Richard Seymour
8/3/2006
Seymour took the field for his first practice in New England Patriots training camp Thursday after dealing with a tight quadriceps. The Patriots defensive lineman did little physically in a relatively light workout, playing without helmet and shoulder pads. He lined up in his stance and walked through different formations.
4/13/2006
Seymour has signed a new four-year contract, estimated between $7 million and $8 million a year. The Patriots' defensive end is currently in the last of a six-year deal that he signed as a rookie out of Georgia.
10/28/2005
Following the Patriots practice on Friday, defensive tackle Richard Seymour was not able to participate in the media session that followed due to a knee injury. Seymour remains questionable for Sunday night's match up with Buffalo. Seymour's playing status will likely be a game time decision.
10/16/2005
Seymour is out once again this weekend, as the New England defensive tackle won't play against Denver because of his left knee injury. He was injured while serving as a fullback to block for Corey Dillon on one play on offense against San Diego on October 2. Jarvis Green will fill the void in the starting lineup.
10/9/2005
As anticipated, Seymour officially has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons after missing practice all week with an unspecified knee injury. The Patriots have not indicated when the defensive tackle might return to action, but for the time being, Jarvis Green will fill the void in the starting lineup.
10/8/2005
According to ESPN, Seymour will not play Sunday when the New England Patriots take on the Falcons in Atlanta. The defensive tackle has been unable to practice this week because of a left knee injury.
10/6/2005
Reportedly, Seymour is nursing a knee injury and has been unable to practice with the New England Patriots this week. As is normally the case with the Pats, the club has not released any specifics about the ailment, only listing the defensive end as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.
8/2/2005
Seymour and the Patriots came to terms on Monday on a deal that is expected to end the defensive lineman's holdout and have him in training camp by Wednesday. Seymour, who was in the fifth year of the six-year, $14.3 million deal he signed as a rookie in 2001, was seeking a new long-term pact. Instead, a report on Foxsports.com pegs the new agreement at one year and $4 million. Seymour also did not participate in New England's June minicamp.
7/31/2005
Seymour once again was a no-show for the second day of training-camp practice on Saturday, as the New England defensive lineman continues to be unhappy with his current contract. The three-time Pro Bowler has two years remaining on a six-year pact that he signed as a rookie in 2001. Seymour did not take part in the Patriots' minicamp in June. He has amassed 117 tackles, 80 assists and 21.5 sacks in his four-year NFL career.
6/11/2005
Seymour missed his second day of the Patriots' mandatory minicamp on Friday. The defensive end evidently is unhappy with his contract, which has two more years to run.
6/9/2005
Seymour was a no-show on Thursday for the first day of the Patriots' only mandatory minicamp, and the team is saying his absence is unexcused. It is believed that the Pro Bowl defensive tackle is unhappy with his current contract, which runs through the 2006 season. The Patriots, however, rarely renegociate or extend deals that have more than a year remaining on them. A first-round draft choice in 2001, Seymour has logged 21.5 sacks and 15 passes defensed in his career.
