Tom Brady

8/12/2006

Brady played for just one series in the New England Patriots' preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday. He completed three straight passes for 24 yards before the Patriots settled for a field goal.

Brady lost in the postseason for the first time in 11 games, as the Patriots saw their pursuit of a third straight Super Bowl championship end in Denver Saturday, 27-13. The New England quarterback threw two interceptions Saturday -- the first time he has thrown two in a playoff game -- and the Patriots' fortune seemed to turn when Denver's Champ Bailey ran back one of them 100 yards to the New England one-yard line in the third quarter.

Brady matched his playoff career high with three touchdown passes in the Patriots' 28-3 Wild Card win over the Jaguars Saturday. The Patriots' quarterback was 15 of 27 passing with 201 yards.

According to Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, the team will use its starters as normal in Monday night's matchup with the New York Jets, despite wrapping up a spot in the upcoming playoffs. As a result, Brady will be under center when New England takes the field, even though he's been nursing a sore shoulder all season, and more recently, a bruised lower leg.

12/18/2005

After being listed as questionable on the Patriots' injury report, Brady completed 20 of 31 passes for 258 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's victory over Tampa Bay.

Brady reportedly expanded his involvement at the Patriots' practice on Thursday, and it appears he is on pace to be ready for Saturday's matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The quarterback continues to be listed as questionable on the team's injury report with a leg ailment, but he's been walking around without a limp the past couple of days.

12/14/2005

Brady reported improvement in his sore left leg, and he was walking without a limp on Wednesday. However, the quarterback missed at least part of the Patriots' practice, and he currently is listed as questionable for Saturday's meeting with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady has been probable on the injury report for the majority of the season with a shoulder injury, but his leg ailment prompted the Patriots to downgrade him this week.

12/12/2005

Despite suffering an undisclosed leg injury in the first quarter of Sunday's win over the Buffalo Bills, Brady was able to remain in the Patriots' lineup until handing things over to backup Doug Flutie with the game well in hand in the fourth. The quarterback finished 29 of 38 for 329 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed four times for 17 yards and a score.

11/28/2005

Brady had trouble getting on track in Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, posting a 42.5 passer rating -- the third-worst of his NFL career. The Patriots' quarterback finished the game 22 of 40 for 248 yards and one touchdown, but was picked off four times, tying a personal high.

10/10/2005

Except for one interception, Brady was nearly flawless in Sunday's 31-28 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. The Patriots' quarterback completed 22 of his 27 pass attempts for 350 yards and three touchdowns and helped lead the team on a drive that set up Adam Vinatieri's game-winning field goal. Brady's 140.4 passer rating was his best of the season and fourth-highest of his NFL career.

9/26/2005

Although he did not have a touchdown, Brady helped lead the New England Patriots to a 23-20 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, going 31 of 41 for 372 yards. He had a perfect fourth quarter, completing all 12 of his pass attempts and set up an Adam Vinatieri game-winning field goal on the team's final offensive drive.

9/9/2005

Brady got the 2005 season off on the right foot, leading the New England Patriots to a 30-20 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Thursday. The quarterback connected with eight different players to finish the game 24 of 38 for 306 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also avoided being sacked.

Brady is expected to be under center when the Patriots take on the Oakland Raiders in Thursday's 2005 regular-season opener, but he shows up on this week's injury report as probable with a shoulder injury. The Pats limited the quarterback's throws in training camp practices and held him out of a preseason contest. However, the moves were considered precautionary, as the team just wants to keep Brady's arm fresh all season.

8/17/2005

Brady is slated to be under center when the Patriots take the field in Thursday's exhibition meeting with the New Orleans Saints. As a precautionary measure, the team held the quarterback out of their first preseason contest, and they have been limiting how much he throws in training camp workouts. There is no indication that anything is wrong with the two-time Super Bowl MVP's arm, and he is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.

5/7/2005

On Saturday, Brady signed a six-year contract with the New England Patriots, reportedly worth about $60 million. According to reports, the new contract replaces the final two years left on the three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback's previous deal, and will run through the 2010 season.
