Marc Bulger

12/21/2005

With no shot at the playoffs, the St. Louis Rams have decided to place Bulger on injured reserve, officially bringing his 2005 campaign to an end. The quarterback has been sidelined since Week 11, missing the team's last four games with a bruised right (throwing) shoulder. A similar problem forced him to sit out two contests earlier this year.

12/13/2005

Bulger's bruised right (throwing) shoulder continues to improve, but the quarterback has said that he won't return to action this season unless he's back to 100 percent. With three games remaining on the schedule and the Rams' playoff chances dwindling, it appears Bulger's 2005 campaign is all but over. Ryan Fitzpatrick already has been named the starter for this week's matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Even though an MRI on Bulger's ailing right (throwing) shoulder revealed no structural damage, there is more swelling than when the Rams' quarterback sprained the AC joint and missed nearly a month earlier this season. Reportedly, the new injury, which has been diagnosed as a bruise, could keep Bulger sidelined the rest of the 2005 campaign. In addition to the shoulder problem, Bulger suffered a minor concussion when he took a blindside hit in Sunday's loss to Arizona.

11/21/2005

An MRI on Bulger's ailing right (throwing) shoulder has confirmed the original diagnosis of a bruise, but no structural damage was found. The Rams' quarterback, who also suffered a concussion when he took a crushing blindside blow from Adrian Wilson late in the third quarter of Sunday's loss to the Arizona Cardinals, said he would be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks. Jamie Martin will take over as the top signal caller in his absence.

11/14/2005

Playing for the first time in nearly a month, Bulger went 28 of 40 for 304 yards, one touchdown and an interception in Sunday's 31-16 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The Rams' quarterback, who had missed the team's previous two games with a sprained AC joint in his right (throwing) shoulder, has topped 300 yards passing four times this season.

11/10/2005

Sidelined since spraining the AC joint in his right (throwing) shoulder more than three weeks ago, Bulger has been practicing without any restrictions this week, and the Rams plan to have him under center for Sunday's meeting with the Seattle Seahawks. The veteran quarterback is not even listed on the team's injury report.

11/8/2005

Bulger took the majority of the snaps with the Rams' first-team offense at practice on Monday, his first extensive work since spraining the AC joint in his right (throwing) shoulder more than three weeks ago. Barring any setbacks over the next few days, the quarterback will be in the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.

10/26/2005

Recovering from a sprained AC joint in his right (throwing) shoulder, Bulger made a few tosses during the Rams' practice on Monday and reported no major problems. Despite the progress, the quarterback likely won't play in this weekend's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, especially with a bye looming in Week 9. Expect Jamie Martin to get the starting nod for the second consecutive week.

10/21/2005

Bulger continues to be listed as questionable on the Rams' injury report, but he won't be available for this weekend's matchup with the New Orleans Saints, according to interim head coach Joe Vitt. The quarterback, who sprained the AC joint in his right (throwing) shoulder last weekend, will be replaced in the starting lineup by Jamie Martin.

10/19/2005

Bulger has been diagnosed with a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder, and is likely to miss at least two weeks, the second of which is the Rams' bye week of November 6.

10/18/2005

Bulger sprained his right shoulder early in the second quarter on Monday night and was forced to miss the rest of the game. He hurt the throwing shoulder while trying to make a tackle after he was intercepted, and was later diagnosed with a sprained AC joint. Before leaving the game, the Rams' quarterback was 6-for-8 with 121 yards, one touchdown and an interception.

10/10/2005

For the second consecutive week, the Rams were forced to go to the air in a comeback attempt, but again, their efforts came up just short in Sunday's 37-31 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. After throwing for 442 yards last week, Bulger went 26 of 40 for 336 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's contest, notching his third game with 300 or more yards this season.

10/3/2005

Trying to get the Rams back in the game, Bulger attempted a career-high 62 passes in Sunday's 44-24 loss to the New York Giants. The quarterback completed 40 of those tosses for 442 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw three interceptions. The yardage total actually was the fourth-highest in Bulger's career.

9/26/2005

Bulger posted a 128.9 passer rating in Sunday's 31-27 victory over the Tennessee Titans, going 21 of 28 for 292 yards and three touchdowns. Despite the impressive totals, the Rams' quarterback struggled at times, throwing an interception, taking four sacks and fumbling three times, losing two.

9/12/2005

Bulger was busy trying to get the Rams back into Sunday's season opener against the San Francisco 49ers, but his efforts were not enough, as St. Louis lost the game, 28-25. The veteran quarterback threw 56 passes on the day, completing 34 for 362 yards and two touchdowns. He was sacked seven times and picked off once.
