Jerry Porter

11/21/2005

Porter had one of his best games of the 2005 campaign, hauling in six passes for a season-high 142 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 16-13 victory over the Washington Redskins. The Raiders' receiver has four TDs this season, all coming over his last four games.

Porter had his best game this year and one of the best of his career on Sunday, catching six passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns. With Randy Moss hobbled and used mainly as a decoy, Porter took advantage and beat up the Titans' pass defense. In seven games this season, he has 31 receptions for 426 yards and two TDs.

Despite still being listed on the Raiders' injury report this week (probable), Porter reports that his hamstring is no longer an issue, and he is back to 100 percent. The receiver was limited the majority of training camp by the nagging ailment and made his 2005 debut in the team's season opener against the New England Patriots last week.

After missing all of the Raiders' preseason contests with a nagging hamstring injury, Porter made his 2005 debut in Thursday's regular-season opener against the New England Patriots. The receiver, who had been listed as questionable going into the game, was in the starting lineup and finished with three receptions for 48 yards.

Questionable going into Thursday's meeting with the New England Patriots, Porter was in the Raiders' starting lineup, opposite offseason acquisition Randy Moss. The receiver has been limited for nearly a month by a nagging hamstring injury, which forced him to miss the team's preseason slate.

9/6/2005

After being hobbled for nearly a month by a nagging hamstring injury, Porter reported no major problems after practicing with the Oakland Raiders on Monday and said he plans to be in the starting lineup for Thursday's season opener against the New England Patriots. The receiver, who will line up opposite offseason acquisition Randy Moss, had 64 catches for 998 yards and nine touchdowns in 16 games a year ago.

Raiders coach Norv Turner had hoped to see Porter in the lineup for Thursday's preseason finale against the New Orleans Saints, but the receiver does not plan to play in the contest, as he's still not comfortable with the status of his hamstring. Porter is optimistic that he will be able to practice at full speed with the team this weekend or early next week and be ready for the start of the regular season.

8/29/2005

According to Raiders head coach Norv Turner, Porter will make his 2005 preseason debut in Thursday's exhibition finale against the New Orleans Saints. The receiver returned to practice last week after missing most of the month with a pulled hamstring and has been gradually expanding his workouts over the past several days.

8/25/2005

Still not quite back to full strength, Porter likely will be held out of Friday's exhibition game against the Arizona Cardinals, but he could see time in the Raiders' preseason finale next week. The receiver has been sidelined for nearly three weeks with a pulled hamstring, and the team doesn't want to take any chances with making the injury any worse. Porter returned to practice earlier this week, albeit on a limited basis.

8/23/2005

After being limited for nearly two weeks with a hamstring pull, Porter was back at practice with the Oakland Raiders on Monday. According to head coach Norv Turner, the receiver should see some time in Friday's exhibition meeting with the Arizona Cardinals, barring any setbacks.

8/16/2005

Porter indicated that he is aiming to return to the Raiders' starting lineup in time for a preseason matchup with the Arizona Cardinals on August 26. The receiver pulled a hamstring more than a week ago and has yet to resume full-speed workouts with the team. He continues to be listed as day-to-day.

8/12/2005

Porter, who has been limited to light individual work since pulling his hamstring last Monday, should return to practice with the Raiders early next week, according to head coach Norv Turner. The team is being very cautious with the receiver, who is slated to start opposite Randy Moss this season.

8/6/2005

Porter will not play in the Raiders' first exhibition game on August 13 after suffering a pulled hamstring during practice last Monday. However, the receiver is close to returning to the team's full-speed workouts.

8/3/2005

According to Oakland head coach Norv Turner, Porter could be held out of practice for up to two weeks due to the hamstring strain that the wide receiver suffered during practice on Monday. An MRI exam of the right hamstring did not reveal a tear, however, so Porter may not have to miss that much time if the pain subsides. Porter started 16 games last season and came up just two receiving short of notching his first NFL 1,000-yard season.
