The Packers released Thompson on Saturday as part of their efforts to finalize their 53-man roster. The linebacker had signed with Green Bay this past April after spending his first five NFL seasons in Arizona. He played in 64 games for the Cardinals during his five-year stay, making 54 starts and logging 240 tackles and 87 assists.

Thompson has signed with the Green Bay Packers. The five-year veteran linebacker, who was released by the Arizona Cardinals earlier this month, finished the 2004 campaign with 34 tackles and one sack in 11 games, including three starts. He was a second-round pick in the 2000 NFL Draft.
