Marvel Smith

12/7/2005

Smith continues to be hobbled by ankle problems, and he will be unavailable for Sunday's matchup with the Chicago Bears. The Steelers' starting left tackle missed a game against the Ravens last month with a sprained left ankle, returned to action a week later, only to twist his right ankle. He will continue to receive treatment on a daily basis.

Smith, who missed last Sunday's game with a sprained ankle, is expected to line up for the Steelers at left tackle in Monday's game against the Indianapolis Colts. The sixth-year veteran reportedly told Steelers coach Bill Cowher last week that he could play, but was ruled out.

Listed as doubtful with an ankle injury, Smith will be a game-time decision for Pittsburgh's game against the Baltimore Ravens. Smith was not able to practice at all this week. If he cannot go, look for rookie Trai Essex to make his first career start at left tackle.
