Ahmed Plummer

11/8/2005

Plummer is slated to return to practice with the San Francisco 49ers later this week, and if no problems are reported, he should be available for Sunday's meeting with the Chicago Bears. The cornerback underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his thumb in early September, then had an arthroscopic procedure to remove a bone chip from his left ankle later in the month. He has missed the team's last five games.

Plummer, who continues to recover after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his thumb earlier this month, faces yet another procedure. The 49ers' cornerback needs arthroscopic surgery to remove a bone chip from his left ankle, and he could be sidelined anywhere from 2-6 weeks.

Plummer underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb, an injury reportedly suffered in practice last week. The 49ers' cornerback, who notched 12 tackles while playing through the injury in last weekend's season opener, will be in the lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, but will be sporting a protective cast on his hand.
