Bubba Franks

12/22/2005

Sidelined with neck and upper back ailments for more than a month, Franks has been placed on injured reserve by the Green Bay Packers. The tight end probably could have tried to play in the team's last two games of the regular season, but with their playoff hopes long gone, the Packers did not want to take any chances and risk further injury. He finishes the year with 25 catches for 207 yards and one touchdown in 10 contests.

12/18/2005

Franks is not expected to play in Green Bay's Monday night game at Baltimore. The tight end did not play last week due to neck and back soreness, and skipped practice this week. He was listed as questionable on this week's injury report.

12/15/2005

After being listed as doubtful last week, Franks currently shows up as questionable on the Packers' injury report. However, the tight end has not yet been cleared to return to action, and it doesn't appear that he'll be available for Monday night's matchup with the Baltimore Ravens. He is recovering from neck and upper back injuries.

12/9/2005

After suffering a neck injury two weeks ago and an arm stinger in last Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bears, Franks has yet to return to the field with the Green Bay Packers this week. As a result, the tight end is not expected to be ready for this weekend's matchup with the Detroit Lions. Officially, he is listed as doubtful.

12/5/2005

Franks got the starting nod in Sunday's matchup with the Chicago Bears, one week after being carted off the field on the stretcher with a neck injury. However, the tight end was forced to leave during the Packers' first offensive series, taking another shot to the head while attempting to make a reception. He was diagnosed with an arm stinger and was unable to return to the lineup.

12/4/2005

Franks will be active and in uniform for Sunday's battle with division rival Chicago Bears. The Packers' tight end was limited to non-contact work in practice last week after he had to be taken off the field on a stretcher and spend the night in the hospital following a shot to the head in last Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Franks has 25 catches for 207 yards and a touchdown in nine games this season.

12/2/2005

Franks took part in the Packers' entire non-contact workout on Friday, lining up with the first-team offense. The tight end, who had to be taken off the field on a stretcher and spent the night in the hospital after taking a shot to the head in last Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, continues to be listed as questionable on the team's injury report. Franks has 25 catches for 207 yards and a touchdown in nine games this season.

12/1/2005

Other than a minor headache, Franks has no lasting effects from the crushing blow he took in last weekend's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The tight end, who was taken off the field on a stretcher and spent Sunday night in the hospital, dressed for the Packers' practice on Wednesday, but did not take part in any of the team drills. He has been listed as questionable for Sunday's tussle with the Chicago Bears.

11/28/2005

Franks had to be carted off the field after taking a crushing blow from the Eagles' Brian Dawkins in the second quarter of Sunday's loss to Philadelphia. The Packers' tight end suffered a neck injury on the play and spent Sunday night in the hospital to undergo precautionary tests and evaluation. He had tingling in his shoulders and numbness in his hand, but according to head coach Mike Sherman, Franks should be fine.

10/23/2005

Franks is expected to play for the Packers in their Week 7 meeting with the Vikings at the Metrodome. The tight end has been limited to just three games in 2005 due to a bone bruise and strained medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

10/20/2005

Franks continues to be a bit hobbled by the bone bruise and strained medial collateral ligament in his left knee, but he was able to work out with the Packers on Wednesday. The tight end, who has participated in only one play over the Packers' last three games, currently is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Minnesota Vikings. He has just seven catches for 42 yards this season.

10/18/2005

Franks missed practice again on Monday and remains questionable for this Sunday's game against the Vikings. The Green Bay tight end sustained a bruised knee and a strained medial collateral ligament in week two versus Cleveland. If Franks is unable to go by the weekend, reserve tight end David Martin will get the start for the Packers.

10/12/2005

Franks continues to work his way back from a knee injury, and barring any setbacks, the Packers expect him to be ready for regular duties when they resume play following this week's bye. According to head coach Mike Sherman, in addition to a bone bruise in the knee, the tight end also has been nursing a strained medial collateral ligament. He is listed as day-to-day.

10/10/2005

After missing two games with a bruised left knee, Franks was on the active roster and in uniform for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints. However, the Packers chose to keep the tight end on the sidelines the majority of the game, limiting him to just one snap. David Martin and Donald Lee again handled the tight-end duties for Green Bay.

10/9/2005

Franks didn't see much action at practice with the Packers this week, but he will be active and available for Sunday's matchup with the New Orleans Saints. The tight end has missed the team's last two games with a bruised left knee. Franks has seven catches for 42 yards this season.

10/7/2005

Franks continues to battle lingering soreness in his bruised left knee, and he's been unable to practice with the Green Bay Packers this week. The tight end, who has missed the team's last two games, is listed as questionable for Sunday's meeting with the New Orleans Saints. It's likely that he will be a game-time decision.

10/4/2005

Franks was able to practice with the Packers on Saturday for the first time in nearly two weeks, but his bruised left knee was still too sore for him to take the field in Monday night's meeting with the Carolina Panthers. As long as his leg continues to show improvement over the next several days, the tight end should be available for Sunday's tussle with the New Orleans Saints.

10/1/2005

Franks practiced on saturday for the first time since bruising his left knee during the September 18 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Packers coach Mike Sherman said Franks was "50-50" to play Monday night against the Carolina Panthers.

9/28/2005

Franks should return to practice later this week, and the Packers are optimistic that he will be available for Monday night's meeting with the Carolina Panthers, according to head coach Mike Sherman. The tight end has been sidelined since bruising his knee in a Week 2 loss to the Cleveland Browns. He'll be listed as questionable on this week's injury report.

9/25/2005

Franks will not be playing today against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

9/23/2005

Franks has not practiced with the Green Bay Packers all week, and his bruised knee might prevent him from taking the field in Sunday's battle with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team has listed the tight end as questionable on the injury report and likely won't make a final decision on his availability until Franks is able to test the knee in pre-game warmups.

9/20/2005

According to Packers head coach Mike Sherman, Franks is nursing a bruised knee, not a hip injury as was originally reported. Precautionary tests on the knee revealed no structural damage, but the tight end was unable to take part in the team's workout on Monday. He'll be re-evaluated later this week to determine his availability for Sunday's matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

9/19/2005

Franks was on crutches following Sunday's loss to the Cleveland Browns, due to a leg injury. Specifics of the problem were not released, but according to head coach Mike Sherman, the tight end is nursing a hip ailment. He has been listed as day-to-day.

9/9/2005

Franks missed some practice time earlier this week with soreness in his right knee, but he was back on the field with the Packers on Thursday and reported no major problems. He will be ready for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Detroit Lions. In 16 contests last season, Franks hauled in 34 passes for 361 yards and seven touchdowns.

8/24/2005

After missing nearly a month of preseason workouts in a contract holdout, Franks will rejoin the Packers later this week after agreeing to a reported seven-year, $28 million deal. The veteran tight end had a one-year, $2.095 million tender offer on the table, but refused to sign the pact in hope of coming to terms on a long-term contract. In 16 games last season, Franks hauled in 34 passes for 361 yards and seven touchdowns.

7/26/2005

On the eve of Packers training camp, Franks has yet to sign the team's one-year, $2.1 million transition offer. The veteran tight end wants a long-term deal, but interest from around the league proved to be insubstantial. Franks has yet to miss a regular-season game since being selected by Green Bay in the first round of the 2000 draft. He has 28 career touchdown receptions, including at least seven in three of the past four years.
