Ron Dayne

8/17/2006

Dayne is expected to miss the Broncos preseason game on Saturday against the Tennessee Titans due to turf toe. The running back suffered the injury in the team's preseason-opening 20-13 loss to the Detroit Lions on Friday. He has missed four practices with the injury.

Ron Dayne agreed to a three-year deal, including a $750,000 signing bonus, to remain with the Denver Broncos.

Tatum Bell (chest) is slated to return to action after a one-week absence, but that doesn't mean Dayne won't get any playing time in Sunday's meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs. According to head coach Mike Shanahan, the veteran will be active and available, and he should figure into the backfield mix, although how much is yet to be determined. In Bell's stead, Dayne rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on seven carries last week against the Cowboys.

Dayne will be inactive for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Miami Dolphins. The Broncos' running back currently is listed third on the team's depth chart, but won't see any action in Week 1.
