John Welbourn
6/16/2006
Welbourn announced his retirement Thursday from the Kansas City Chiefs. The offensive lineman and 1999 NFL fourth round draft pick had been acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004. He was hampered by a knee injury during his first season with Kansas City and also served a four-game suspension to start the 2005 season for violating the NFL's performance enhancing drugs policy.
9/3/2005
Welbourn has been suspended for the first four regular-season games of the 2005 season for violating the NFL's steroid policy. The reserve offensive lineman lost his appeal of the suspension and will not be eligible to rejoin the roster or practice with the Chiefs until October 16.
