Steve Heiden
12/27/2005
Heiden was in the Browns' lineup for Saturday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but was unable to return after aggravating the ankle problem he's been battling for several weeks. The ailment is severe enough to force him to miss this weekend's matchup with the Baltimore Ravens, promting the team to place him on injured reserve. Aaron Shea will take over as Cleveland's starter.

Despite playing on a sore ankle the past couple of weeks, Heiden has yet to miss any game action. The Browns' tight end still is not back to 100 percent, but he was able to work out with the team on Wednesday and plans to be in the starting lineup for Saturday's meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Heiden has been limited in practice all week, due to soreness in his ankle. Reportedly, the Browns will wait until the tight end tests things out prior to Sunday's meeting with the Oakland Raiders to determine if he'll be able to play. Officially, he has been listed as questionable.

Heiden had the best game of his NFL career, helping the Browns squeeze by the Green Bay Packers in Sunday's 26-24 victory. The tight end, who was nursing a neck injury all last week, finished the game with six catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns. One of his grabs went for a 62-yard score.
