Kevin Johnson
10/24/2005
Johnson is expected to miss the rest of the season after tearing his right Achilles tendon while running a route in Sunday's victory over the Cleveland Browns. The Lions' receiver, who has been filling in for the ailing Roy Williams, was replaced in the lineup by Scottie Vines. In six games this season, Johnson hauled in 17 passes for 133 yards.

Johnson gets a starting nod at wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, as both Roy Williams (quadriceps) and Charles Rogers (suspension) will be out for Sunday's game against Carolina. Johnson and rookie Mike Williams will be the starters. Johnson has 13 catches for 110 yards this season.

Johnson has agreed to a one-year contract with the Detroit Lions. The veteran receiver, who Baltimore acquired from Jacksonville in exchange for a fourth-round pick last spring, appeared in all 16 games with the Ravens in 2004, but hauled in a career-low 35 passes for 373 yards and just one touchdown. He eventually was released in February.
