Troy Edwards

10/25/2005

On Tuesday, Edwards signed a contract with the Detroit Lions. The Lions are short at wide receiver, and feel that the former Tennessee Titan will help them with depth at the position. He takes the roster spot of Kevin Johnson, who is out for the rest of the season.

Edwards has been released by the Tennessee Titans, opening a spot on the roster for fellow receiver Andrae Thurman, who was promoted from the practice squad on Sunday. Edwards inked a one-year deal with the Titans after being cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.

Edwards has signed with the Tennessee Titans, agreeing to a one-year contract. The veteran receiver, who was the 13th overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft (Pittsburgh), was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars last weekend after hauling in 50 catches for 533 yards and one touchdown in 16 games in 2004, including four starts.

Despite re-signing with the Jaguars earlier in 2005, Edwards was cut by the team on Sunday. The move was made after Edwards could not move ahead of two Jaguar rookie receivers, Matt Jones and Chad Owens. Edwards was second on the team last season with 50 catches, good for 533 yards.
