Donovan McNabb

11/22/2005

McNabb has been placed on injured reserve by the Philadelphia Eagles, officially bringing his 2005 campaign to an end. The quarterback will undergo surgery to repair a sports hernia in the coming weeks and be sidelined indefinitely. He had hoped to wait until after the season to go under the knife, but after aggravating the problem in a Week 10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, doctors recommended that the procedure be done sooner rather than later.

11/21/2005

McNabb has decided to take specialist Dr. William Meyers' advice and will undergo surgery to repair his sports hernia in the coming days. The Eagles' quarterback, who was hoping to wait until after the season to go under the knife, aggravated the problem in last week's loss to the Dallas Cowboys, prompting the upcoming procedure. He is expected to miss the remainder of the 2005 campaign.

After further evaluation by a specialist on Thursday, it has been recommended that McNabb undergo surgery as soon as possible to repair the damage in his groin/abdominal area. The Eagles' quarterback, who has been bothered by a sports hernia since early in the season, aggravated the problem in Monday night's loss to the Dallas Cowboys and will be sidelined indefinitely. McNabb plans to weigh his options before making a final decision on whether to go under the knife.

11/16/2005

According to head coach Andy Reid, McNabb will be unavailable for Sunday's matchup with the New York Giants, due to the groin injury he suffered in Monday night's disappointing loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles' quarterback, who has been playing with a sports hernia all season, is scheduled to see a specialist on Thursday to determine the next course of action. Mike McMahon will step into the starting lineup in his absence.

11/15/2005

According to Eagles head coach Andy Reid, McNabb likely will not be ready for Sunday's battle with the New York Giants, due to the groin injury that knocked him out of Monday night's loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The quarterback, who has been playing all season with a sports hernia that will require surgery at some point, was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury.

11/4/2005

After missing the Eagles' workouts the previous two days, McNabb returned to practice Friday, and it appears he is on pace to be ready for the weekend. In seven games overall, he has completed 59 percent of his passes for 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions, averaging 290.6 yards per contest.

11/2/2005

McNabb has some soreness and stiffness in his side because of bruised ribs, and he was held out of practice on Wednesday as a precautionary measure. Despite the added ailment, the quarterback said he plans to return to the field in the next day or two and be under center for Sunday's matchup with the Washington Redskins.

10/7/2005

Other than some expected lingering soreness, McNabb has reported no major problems this week and been practicing with the Eagles without any restrictions. The quarterback, who is nursing a sports hernia, bruised chest and sore shin, currently is listed as probable on the team's injury report and fully expects to be under center for Sunday's matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.

Nursing a sports hernia, bruised chest and sore shin, McNabb helped lead the Eagles to a comeback victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. The quarterback finished the game 33 of 48 for 369 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Besides lingering soreness in his lower abdomen, McNabb had no major problems after the game, according to head coach Andy Reid.

After seeking a second opinion on his groin injury in Boston on Tuesday, McNabb has been diagnosed with a sports hernia -- a tear in the abdominal area. The Eagles' quarterback reportedly will need surgery at some point, but the club is hopeful that the procedure can wait until after the 2005 campaign. As long as McNabb can handle the pain, he will be under center for Philadelphia.

9/26/2005

According to Eagles head coach Andy Reid, McNabb is nursing an abdominal strain, and he likely will undergo a few tests early this week to determine the extent of the injury. Despite the ailment -- along with a bruised chest -- the quarterback posted some impressive numbers in Sunday's victory over the Oakland Raiders, going 30 of 52 for 365 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. For now, he has been listed as day-to-day.

9/21/2005

As a precautionary measure, McNabb did not work out with the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday. According to head coach Andy Reid, the quarterback suffered a minor groin strain late in the first half of Sunday's blowout victory over the San Francisco 49ers, and combined with the bruised chest McNabb sustained in Week 1, the Eagles do not want to take any chances with their top signal caller. He will be listed as probable for the weekend's matchup with the Oakland Raiders.

9/19/2005

Despite bruising his chest in the Eagles' previous contest, McNabb did not miss a beat in Sunday's 42-3 thumping of the San Francisco 49ers, going 23 of 29 for 342 yards and a career high-tying five touchdowns. With the game well in hand, the quarterback was replaced in the lineup by Koy Detmer and did not play in the fourth quarter.

9/16/2005

According to Eagles head coach Andy Reid, McNabb will be under center when the team takes the field against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, barring any last-minute setbacks. The quarterback required some treatment between series, but he did not miss any time after bruising his chest early in Monday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Other than some mild lingering soreness, McNabb has reported no problems after practicing with the team for two consecutive days.

9/15/2005

After sitting out on Wednesday, McNabb returned to practice on Thursday and reported no major problems. The quarterback, who is nursing a bruised chest, said he will be under center when Eagles take the field against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Officially, he is listed as questionable, but could be upgraded by the end of the week. Tests on McNabb's chest revealed no structural damage, according to head coach Andy Reid.

9/13/2005

McNabb removed his shoulder pads and jersey to receive treatment on his chest and back after taking a vicious hit in the first half of Monday night's meeting with the Atlanta Falcons. However, the quarterback was under center for the Eagles' next offensive series and was able to finish the game. According to head coach Andy Reid, McNabb has a bruised chest and might be limited in practice over the next few days as a precautionary measure.
