Kurt Warner

8/12/2006

Warner was 5-for-6 for 59 yards on Saturday in the Pittsburgh Steelers' preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals on Friday. Warner was 5-of-6 for 59 yards and a touchdown.

2/15/2006

Warner agreed to an incentive-laced three-year contract Wednesday that reportedly could be worth $15-22 million. The Cardinals' quarterback had been prepared to sign with another team if Arizona didn't re-sign him. Warner hasn't played a full season since 2001.

12/20/2005

According to Cardinals head coach Dennis Green, Warner has a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee, an injury suffered early in Sunday's loss to the Houston Texans. The veteran quarterback is undergoing more tests to determine if surgery is necessary, but regardless, he will be placed on injured reserve and be sidelined for the rest of the season. Josh McCown will take over as the team's top signal caller. John Navarre will serve as the top backup.

The Associated Press reports Warner is likely out for the rest of the season after injuring his knee in Sunday's loss at Houston. Arizona coach Dennis Green said the Cardinals' quarterback injured the medial collateral ligament in his right knee during the team's first offensive series. Warner stayed in the game into the second quarter, finishing the game 14-of-24 for 174 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

12/5/2005

Warner completed 29 of 45 passes for 354 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's victory at San Francisco. For the Cardinals' quarterback, this marked the fourth 300-yard passing performance in five games since returning from a groin strain.

11/23/2005

Warner was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday after completing 27 of 39 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns in the Cardinals 38-28 victory over the Rams on Sunday. A two-time Most Valuable Player with St. Louis, Warner won his first game as a Cardinal and had his first three-touchdown game since Jan. 6, 2002.

11/21/2005

Returning to St. Louis to face his former team, Warner helped lead the Cardinals to a 38-28 victory over the Rams on Sunday. The veteran quarterback posted a season-best 115.9 passer rating, going 27 of 39 for 285 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He was sacked only once, but fumbled two times, losing one.

11/14/2005

Attempting to lead the Cardinals to a comeback victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Warner completed 29 of his 45 pass attempts for a season-high 359 yards, along with one touchdown and no interceptions. In addition, the 34-year-old quarterback avoided being sacked for the first time in five games this season.

11/10/2005

As long as the team is doing well, Warner will remain under center for the Arizona Cardinals for the foreseeable future, according to head coach Dennis Green. The veteran quarterback began the 2005 campaign on top of the depth chart, but suffered a groin injury and forced the team to turn to backup Josh McCown. In the games Warner has started this season, the Cardinals are 0-4. McCown led the team to a 2-2 record when getting the nod.

11/7/2005

As anticipated, Warner returned to the Cardinals' starting lineup for Sunday's battle with the Seattle Seahawks after missing some time with a strained groin. The veteran quarterback completed 29 of his 48 pass attempts for a season-high 334 yards and a touchdown, but tossed three interceptions, was sacked four times and lost a fumble in the 33-19 loss.

11/2/2005

Head coach Dennis Green has decided to make another switch, naming Warner as the Cardinals' starting quarterback for this week's matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. The veteran signal caller lost the top job to Josh McCown after suffering a strained groin in Week 3, but he has since recovered from the injury. In three games this season, Warner is 64 of 101 for 696 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

10/24/2005

Warner, who has recovered from the groin injury he suffered in Week 3, split snaps with Josh McCown in practice last week, but the Cardinals did not reveal their starter until just prior to Sunday's meeting with the Tennessee Titans. McCown got the nod, while the veteran Warner served as the primary backup.

10/20/2005

According to head coach Dennis Green, the Cardinals have decided who will be under center when the team takes the field against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, but the starter won't be named officially until just prior to kickoff. Warner, who has been sidelined since Week 3 with a groin injury, returned to practice earlier this week and has been splitting first-team snaps with Josh McCown.

10/12/2005

Warner was able to practice with the Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday, and if his groin continues to show improvement over the coming days, the veteran quarterback is confident that he'll be ready and available when the team resumes play in Week 7. However, there is no guarantee that the starting job will be waiting for Warner upon his return, as Josh McCown has looked good in his absence.

10/6/2005

As anticipated, Warner has been ruled out of Sunday's matchup with the Carolina Panthers, due to the strained groin he suffered in a game against the Seattle Seahawks nearly two weeks ago. With a bye next week, the Cardinals are choosing not to push the veteran quarterback too quickly and risk further aggravation of the injury. Josh McCown will remain in the starting lineup for the time being.

9/27/2005

After an earlier report stated that Warner may miss only this Sunday night's game against the 49ers, new information from team sources says that the veteran quarterback may miss up to a month. The former league MVP suffered a groin injury during a scramble in last Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. Warner will be replaced in the starting lineup by reserve Josh McCown.

9/26/2005

Warner was unable to return to the Cardinals' lineup after straining his right groin while scrambling in the second quarter of Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Following the game, the veteran quarterback was optimistic about his chances of playing next weekend, but said a final decision likely would not be made until late in the week. He was replaced in the lineup by Josh McCown. Prior to his departure, Warner was 8 of 13 for 105 yards with no touchdowns.

9/19/2005

Warner went 29 for 42 for 327 yards in Sunday's loss to the St. Louis Rams, but failed to drive the Cardinals into the end zone. The veteran quarterback threw an interception, was sacked five times and fumbled three times, losing one. He finished with an 82.1 passer rating.

8/15/2005

Although he stayed in the lineup until just midway through the second quarter, Warner made the most of his time on the field, making his debut with the Arizona Cardinals in Saturday's exhibition game against Dallas. The veteran quarterback, who signed a one-year, $4 million contract this offseason, completed 14 of 19 pass attempts for 151 yards, including a 31-yard touchdown connection with Larry Fitzgerald. He did not throw an interception and avoided being sacked.

5/25/2005

Head coach Dennis Green has anointed Warner as the Cardinals' starting quarterback heading into the 2005 campaign. Green indicated that the seven-year NFL veteran will bring leadership to Arizona, as well as an understanding of the type of offense that Green employs. Warner started nine games for the Giants last season before losing his job to rookie Eli Manning. Over the past three seasons, the former Arena Leaguer is 5-11 as a starter for St. Louis and New York.
