Az-Zahir Hakim

12/4/2005

Battling back and rib injuries, Hakim will not play in Sunday's meeting with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Devery Henderson will see more time behind starters Joe Horn and Donte' Stallworth in his absence.

11/6/2005

Hakim practiced with the New Orleans Saints all week and reported no major problems with his bruised ribs. As a result, he will be active and available for Sunday's matchup with the Chicago Bears. He had been listed as questionable on the injury report.

11/2/2005

Hakim did not play in last weekend's loss to the Miami Dolphins because of bruised ribs, but he was back on the practice field with the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday. As no problems are reported over the next couple of days, the receiver should be available for Sunday's matchup with the Chicago Bears. Officially, he has been listed as questionable.

10/31/2005

Hakim had planned to be ready for Sunday's matchup with the Miami Dolphins, but was among the Saints' inactives, due to a rib injury. The veteran receiver, who was replaced by Devery Henderson, had been listed as questionable going into the contest. In five games this season, Hakim has 17 catches for 293 yards and a touchdown.

10/28/2005

Hakim reported no major problems after returning to practice with the New Orleans Saints on Thursday, and barring any setbacks, he will be available for Sunday's meeting with the Miami Dolphins. The veteran receiver, who is nursing a rib injury, officially is listed as questionable, but should be good to go this weekend.

10/25/2005

Hakim has been listed as questionable by the Saints for this Sunday's game against the Dolphins. The wide receiver left last Sunday's loss to the Rams with a non-specific rib cage injury.

10/24/2005

Hakim continues to take advantage of added playing time in the absence of Joe Horn, who has been sidelined for the majority of the last month with a strained hamstring. In Sunday's loss to the St. Louis Rams, Hakim hauled in six passes for a team-high 100 yards and a touchdown. The Saints' receiver also averaged 20.0 yards on five kickoff returns and 9.0 yards on five punt returns.

10/10/2005

Despite battling a sore knee, Hakim got the starting nod for the Saints in Sunday's meeting with the Green Bay Packers, filling in for Joe Horn, who was out with a strained hamstring. The receiver took advantage of the added playing time, hauling in five passes for 108 yards. He also averaged 5.0 yards on four punt returns.

10/7/2005

Limited earlier this season by a hamstring injury, Hakim now is bothered by a sore knee, which prevented him from working out with the Saints earlier this week. The receiver returned to practice on Thursday, however, and barring any setbacks, he plans to be available for Sunday's matchup with the Green Bay Packers. Officially, Hakim is listed as questionable.

9/15/2005

Hakim has been limited this week after aggravating his nagging hamstring injury in the Saints' season opener against the Carolina Panthers last weekend. The veteran receiver, who did not record a catch in the contest, officially is listed as questionable on the injury report. Expect him to be a game-time decision.

9/11/2005

After practicing over the past several days, proving his strained hamstring has recovered, Hakim will be available for Sunday's season opener against the Carolina Panthers. The receiver, who will be listed at No. 3 on the Saints' depth chart behind starters Joe Horn and Donte' Stallworth, missed more than three weeks with the nagging injury.

9/8/2005

After missing more than three weeks with a strained right hamstring, Hakim returned to practice with the New Orleans Saints earlier this week. The receiver was hoping to win the team's No. 3 wideout job this season, but because of the nagging injury, Devery Henderson will fill the spot on the depth chart, at least for the time being.

8/22/2005

Hakim's hamstring continues to be a problem, and he's in danger of falling further down the Saints' depth chart as a result. The receiver was hoping to win the team's No. 3 wideout job this season, but because of the nagging injury, Devery Henderson currently looks to be in line to claim the spot.

8/9/2005

Hakim is not expected to play in Friday's exhibition game against the Seattle Seahawks after recently suffering a slightly pulled hamstring, according to Saints head coach Jim Haslett. Devery Henderson will see more time in his absence.

On Tuesday, Hakim, a free agent, signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints. Only a week after a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs fell through for Hakim, he met with Saints team officials earlier today finalize the plans. Hakim is a seven-year veteran of the NFL, and was scheduled to make $2.5 million in 2006 before being released by the Detroit Lions.

After a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs fell through last week, Hakim has signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints. Hakim was slated to earn about $2.5 million with Detroit in 2005, but was released in April after the team inked free agent Kevin Johnson and selected Mike Williams in the first round of this year's draft. In 12 games last season, Hakim finished with 31 catches for 533 yards and three touchdowns.

6/17/2005

According to Kansas City head coach Dick Vermeil, Hakim will not sign with the Chiefs as previously speculated. The wide receiver and his agent reportedly decided that they would continue to seek out a better fit. Hakim was released by the Lions in late April, and had reached a verbal agreement with Kansas City last week, but nothing was made official. It is believed that Hakim will now sign with the New Orleans Saints.

6/11/2005

Hakim reportedly has verbally agreed to a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. Hakim, who played for Chiefs' head coach Dick Vermeil in St. Louis, caught 31 passes for 533 yards with Detroit last season.

4/26/2005

With the Detroit Lions' offseason acquisitions at the receiver position, Hakim continued to fall on the depth chart. Now, the veteran is looking for a new job, as he has been released by the club. The Lions signed free agent Kevin Johnson earlier this month and drafted Mike Williams in the first round of last weekend's NFL Draft, making Hakim expendable.
