Joe Jurevicius

3/12/2006

Jurevicius is coming home, signing a four-year contract worth $10 million with the Cleveland Browns. Jurevicius grew up in the Cleveland area before attending Penn State. The 31-year-old wide receiver enters his eighth season and will play for his fourth NFL team.

Sidelined since Week 4, Darrell Jackson is slated to return to the Seahawks' starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Tennessee Titans, according to head coach Mike Holmgren. As a result, Jurevicius will drop to the No. 3 spot on the depth chart, but the team still plans to keep the veteran receiver heavily involved in the offensive attack.

Jurevicius attended the Seahawks' practice on Thursday, but he did not take part in the team's workouts, due to illness. As a result, the veteran receiver has been added to the injury report (probable). However, he expects to be recovered in time to start Monday night's battle with the Philadelphia Eagles.

With Darrell Jackson out of action for the seventh consecutive game, Jurevicius got another start in Sunday's meeting with the New York Giants. The Seahawks' receiver took full advantage of the opportunity, finishing the overtime victory with eight catches for a career-high tying 137 yards and two touchdowns.

Jurevicius was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys after landing on his arm while making a catch in the fourth quarter. The receiver, who was unable to return to the Seahawks' lineup, has been diagnosed with a pinched nerve in his neck, but the injury is not considered serious. He has been listed as day-to-day.

With Darrell Jackson and Bobby Engram sidelined with injuries, the Seahawks turned to Jurevicius to fill one of the voids in the starting lineup for Sunday's meeting with the St. Louis Rams. The veteran receiver took advantage of the opportunity, hauling in a career-high nine passes for 137 yards and a touchdown.

Both regular starters -- Darrell Jackson (knee) and Bobby Engram (ribs) -- are slated to miss Sunday's meeting with the St. Louis Rams, meaning Jurevicius will step into the Seahawks' starting lineup this weekend. Opposite the veteran receiver likely will be D.J. Hackett, with Peter Warrick and Jerheme Urban handling the backup duties.
