Rich Gannon
8/6/2005
Gannon will officially retire at a news conference on Saturday. The Oakland Raiders' quarterback, who missed most of the 2004 season with a broken vertebra in his neck, has already signed with CBS to work as an NFL game analyst this upcoming season. Gannon, an 18-year veteran, was the NFL's MVP in 2002.

Gannon, who suffered a season-ending neck injury in the third game of the 2004 season, said on Monday that a return to the field is highly unlikely. The 39-year-old quarterback won't make a final decision until he meets with Raiders managing general partner Al Davis.
