Fred Taylor

7/29/2006

Jaguars running back Fred Taylor began training camp Saturday the same way he did last year _ nursing an injury. Taylor strained his right hamstring during a conditioning drill Thursday and was less than full speed when Jacksonville opened camp. It was hardly the start Taylor wanted, especially after spending all of last season recovering from a serious knee injury.

12/12/2005

As anticipated, Taylor returned to the Jaguars' starting lineup for Sunday's meeting with the Indianapolis Colts after missing three of the team's previous four games with a bruised ankle. Splitting time with backup Greg Jones, the veteran running back finished the day with just 19 yards on 10 carries.

12/8/2005

Taylor is listed as probable on the Jacksonville Jaguars' injury report. The running back, who has missed three of the team's last four games with a bruised ankle, made it through Wednesday's practice unscathed. However, there is no guarantee that Taylor will play in Sunday's matchup with the Indianapolis Colts, as he's shown up as probable the last two weeks, but failed to take the field on the weekend. His status will be updated in the coming days.

12/2/2005

Taylor practiced with the Jaguars earlier this week, but after missing Friday's workout, he has been ruled out of Sunday's matchup with the Cleveland Browns, according to head coach Jack Del Rio. The running back, who has missed two of the team's last three games with a sprained and bruised right ankle, will be replaced in the lineup by Greg Jones. For the season, Taylor has rushed for 606 yards and two touchdowns on 145 carries in eight contests.

For the season, Taylor has rushed for 606 yards and two touchdowns on 145 carries in eight games.

11/27/2005

CBS is reporting that Taylor will be inactive Sunday for Jacksonville's matchup with Arizona. He is out with a bone bruise on his right ankle.

11/25/2005

The Florida Times-Union reported that the Jaguars' running back may not play in Sunday's game. Coach Jack Del Rio questioned Taylor's conditioning given he hasn't practiced regularly this month because of injuries. Taylor was added to Jacksonville's injury report Friday despite practicing all week.

11/21/2005

Despite being listed as doubtful most of the week with a bruised right ankle, Taylor was in the Jaguars' starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Tennessee Titans. However, the running back was unable to get on track, rushing for minus-8 yards on six carries before leaving for good with a bruised right quadriceps muscle. Greg Jones again handled the bulk of the rushing load for Jacksonville.

11/20/2005

Contrary to most indications earlier this week, Taylor will start at running back today when the Jaguars take on the Tennessee Titans.

11/16/2005

Taylor did not practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Wednesday and he has been listed as doubtful for Sunday's meeting with the Tennessee Titans, due to a sprained and bruised right ankle/foot. The running back, who missed last weekend's victory over the Baltimore Ravens, likely will be replaced in the lineup by Greg Jones for the second consecutive game.

11/11/2005

According to Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio, Taylor officially has been ruled out of Sunday's matchup with the Baltimore Ravens. The veteran running back aggravated his sprained right ankle in last weekend's win over the Houston Texans and has been unable to practice this week. He originally suffered the injury in early October and was forced to sit out one game and the majority of the team's bye week.

11/9/2005

After aggravating his sprained right ankle in the third quarter of last Sunday's matchup with the Houston Texans, Taylor has been listed as doubtful for this week's tussle with the Baltimore Ravens. The Jaguars' running back originally suffered the injury in early October and was forced to sit out one game and the majority of the team's bye week. For the season, Taylor has 614 yards and two touchdowns on 139 carries in seven contests.

He will be re-evaluated over the next couple of days to determine the extent of the injury.

10/31/2005

Taylor admitted that his bruised right ankle is not 100 percent, but he was in the Jaguars' starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the St. Louis Rams and did not appear limited by the injury. The running back finished the game with a season-high 165 yards on 22 carries and scored on a 71-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

10/29/2005

Jacksonville head coach Jack Del Rio said that Taylor's playing status for Sunday's game against St. Louis will be a game-time decision. The running back suffered a setback Friday in his recovery from a sprained right ankle.

10/28/2005

Jaguars' running back Fred Taylor experienced a setback on Friday in his recovery from a sprained ankle. Despite Taylor participating in practice, his status for this Sunday's game against the Rams has been downgraded to questionable. The former All-Pro back injured his ankle in a game on October 9 against the Bengals.

10/26/2005

Taylor used the Jaguars' bye week to rest and rehab his sprained ankle, and he was able to return to practice with the team on Wednesday. Barring any setbacks over the next couple of days, he will be in the starting backfield for Sunday's matchup with the St. Louis Rams. Officially, Taylor has been listed as probable.

10/18/2005

According to Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio, the sprained ankle that forced Taylor to miss Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers is not as severe as originally thought, and this week's bye should give the running back enough time to rest, receive treatment and recover. Del Rio is optimistic that Taylor will return to the backfield for the Jags' Week 8 matchup with the St. Louis Rams.

10/16/2005

ESPN is reporting that Taylor won't play on Sunday, and that the Jacksonville running back is inactive for the Jaguars' contest against Pittsburgh. It appears Alvin Pearman will start in his place.

10/13/2005

Taylor sprained his ankle in the closing minutes of Sunday's win over the Cincinnati Bengals, and the injury has limited his involvement in practice this week. As a result, the Jaguars have downgraded the running back to questionable on the injury report for this weekend's matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is coming off his best game of the season, rushing for 132 yards on 24 carries.

10/10/2005

After failing to reach the century mark in his first four games of the 2005 campaign, Taylor broke out in Sunday's 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, picking up 132 yards on 24 carries. Even with the solid outing, the Jaguars' tailback is averaging just 3.8 yards per carry this season and has scored just one touchdown through five contests.

10/3/2005

After posting a career-high 37 carries in last week's win over the New York Jets, Taylor was unable to get the Jaguars' running game going in Sunday's 20-7 loss to the Denver Broncos. The running back finished the game with just 14 yards on eight carries. For the season, he is averaging a career-low 3.3 yards per rush.

9/12/2005

Head coach Jack Del Rio stuck to his plan of giving Taylor 20-25 touches in Sunday's season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. The running back, who has been working his way back slowly after undergoing offseason surgery to repair a partial tear in the medial collateral ligament in his left knee, rushed for 76 yards on 20 carries and hauled in two passes for 14 yards.

8/9/2005

According to Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio, Taylor continues to expand his involvement in the team's workouts, and he took part in several plays on Monday. However, despite the progress, the running back will not play in Saturday's exhibition game against the Miami Dolphins. However, barring any setbacks, he will be ready for the start of the regular season. Until that time, LaBrandon Toefield will get most of the snaps with the first team.

7/15/2005

According to Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio, Taylor will practice just once a day in shorts for at least the first week of training camp. The running back, who continues to recover from offseason surgery to repair a partial tear in the medial collateral ligament in his left knee, still hopes to be ready by the start of the regular season. The Jags reportedly have shown interest in acquiring the Bills' Travis Henry as insurance.

6/22/2005

Taylor, who continues to recover from offseason surgery to repair a partial tear in the medial collateral ligament in his left knee, is expected to intensify his workouts over the next few weeks to see exactly how the knee is healing. To date, the Jaguars' running back has been limited to running on the side.
