Peyton Manning
3/6/2006
Manning agreed to a restructured contract with the Colts to enable the team more flexibility under the salary cap. Manning was expected to cost the team $17.776 million against the 2006 cap, but it was reduced to about $12.5 million.

Manning's record as playoff quarterback fell to 3-6, as the Indianapolis Colts were upset at home by the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday, 21-18. The veteran quarterback's passing was often off the mark until the Colts made a comeback push in the fourth quarter. He threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to Dallas Clark in the final 15 minutes, and finished 22-for-38 for 290 yards. Yet, the Steelers stuck Manning with his third loss in his last four playoff games.

With home-field advantage throughout the playoffs secured and their perfect record no longer intact, the Indianapolis Colts will treat their final two games of the regular season as preseason contests, according to head coach Tony Dungy. While Manning is expected to start, his playing time will be limited, allowing backup Jim Sorgi to take plenty of snaps. The team does not want to risk any injuries to their regulars.

Despite getting sacked a season-high three times, Manning turned in another solid performance in Sunday's 26-18 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Colts' quarterback posted a 113.7 passer rating, going 24 of 36 for 324 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He has two or more TD passes in his each of his last eight games, notching 20 total scores over that span with just four picks.
12/5/2005
Manning had an easy day at the office on Sunday, throwing just 17 passes -- the second-fewest of his NFL career -- in a 35-3 drubbing of the Tennessee Titans. The Colts' quarterback completed 13 of his attempts for 187 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions, resulting in a season-best 151.2 passer rating. Manning has thrown at least 25 TD passes eight consecutive seasons, which is an NFL record.
11/21/2005
Manning's passer rating was better than 100 for the fifth consecutive game, as he went 24 of 40 for a season-high 365 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 45-37 shootout victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. After averaging 221.6 yards in his first seven games this season, the Colts' quarterback has passed for 327.7 yards per contest over his last three outings.
11/14/2005
Manning picked apart the Houston Texans' defense on Sunday, going 26 of 35 for 297 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions, leading the Colts to a 31-17 victory. The veteran quarterback has two or more TD tosses in each of his last four games.
11/8/2005
Manning left with a win under his belt for the first time in eight visits to Foxborough, leading the Indianapolis Colts to a 40-21 victory over the New England Patriots Monday Night. The quarterback finished the game 28 of 37 for a season-high 321 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
10/18/2005
Hooking up on a six-yard pass in the fourth quarter of Monday night's victory over the St. Louis Rams, Manning and Marvin Harrison connected for a touchdown for the 86th time in their careers, breaking the all-time NFL mark formerly held by San Francisco's Steve Young and Jerry Rice. The Colts' quarterback finished the game 22 of 32 for 191 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
10/3/2005
Manning finally got the Colts' offense back on track in Sunday's matchup with the Tennessee Titans, going 20 of 27 for 264 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. The quarterback, who took home the NFL MVP honors after notching 49 touchdowns through the air last season, had failed to pass for a TD in his previous two games. He finished with a season-high 144.1 passer rating.
9/26/2005
Although he failed to record a passing touchdown for the second consecutive week, Manning reached a couple of milestones in Sunday's 13-6 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Playing in his 115th game, the Colts' signal caller topped 30,000 yards passing for his NFL career, becoming the second-fastest quarterback in league history to reach the plateau (Dan Marino). He and Marvin Harrison also broke the NFL record for most yards passing between a QB and receiver.
9/19/2005
Manning had a rough time moving the ball in Sunday's 10-3 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, posting a passer rating of just 44.0. The Colts' quarterback was off the mark, completing 13 of his 28 pass attempts for 122 yards, one interception and no touchdowns. Despite constant pressure from the Jags' defense, Manning avoided taking a sack in the game.
8/29/2005
An MRI on Manning's left (non-throwing) shoulder revealed no damage, and the quarterback is expected to practice with the Colts this week. Manning, who bruised the shoulder in Saturday's exhibition game against the Denver Broncos, likely will be held out of the team's preseason finale as a precautionary measure. He'll be under center for a Week 1 battle with the Baltimore Ravens.
