David Patten

11/18/2005

During an arthroscopic procedure on Friday, doctors found more damage in Patten's ailing knee than was anticipated originally. The receiver will be sidelined for at least six weeks while recovering from the repairs, prompting the Redskins to place him on injured reserve, officially ending his 2005 campaign. He finishes the season with 22 catches for 217 yards and no touchdowns in nine games.

Patten continues to be sidelined by the knee problem that limited his action in last weekend's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The receiver was unable to practice with the Redskins on Wednesday, and he's currently listed as doubtful for Sunday's matchup with the Oakland Raiders. If he's unable to take the field this weekend, James Thrash will get the starting nod opposite Santana Moss.
