John Hall

12/22/2005

Hall was forced to spend some time in the hospital this week to treat an intestinal virus. However, the illness is not expected to prevent the Redskins' kicker from being ready for Saturday's meeting with the New York Giants. He's currently listed as probable on the team's injury report.

10/28/2005

It appears Hall will be ready to return to action in Sunday's meeting with the New York Giants. The kicker, who has been sidelined since the Redskins' regular-season opener with a strained right quadriceps muscle, has been splitting time in practice this week with his temporary replacement, Nick Novak. Officially, Hall has been listed as probable.

10/23/2005

Hall will be inactive for the Redskins' Week 7 meeting with the 49ers.

10/20/2005

Hall will be evaluated later in the week to determine his availability for Sunday's matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, but he's currently listed as probable on the Redskins' injury report. The kicker, who has been sidelined since the regular-season opener with a strained right quadriceps muscle, reported no major problems after returning to practice with the team on Wednesday.

10/12/2005

Hall is expected to miss at least one more game with his strained right quadriceps muscle, but an MRI taken earlier this week revealed that his leg is healing. The kicker plans to expand his workouts over the coming days, but the Redskins are not going to push him too quickly and risk further aggravation of the injury. Nick Novak will continue to handle the kicking duties in Hall's absence.

10/11/2005

Still sidelined by a strained right quadriceps muscle, Hall missed his third consecutive game on Sunday, and the Redskins are uncertain when he might be able to return to action. The kicker, who has been out since the regular-season opener, underwent more tests this week to determine his progress. His status will be updated when the results have been reviewed.

10/4/2005

Although his leg has yet to fully recover, Hall was able to kick several field goals during the Redskins' practice on Monday. The veteran kicker has been sidelined since straining his right quadriceps muscle on a kickoff in a season-opening victory over the Chicago Bears on September 11, and the team still does not have an exact timetable for his return.

9/29/2005

According to Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs, Hall still is not back to full strength, and he'll likely be held out of Sunday's meeting with the Seattle Seahawks. The kicker has been sidelined since straining his right quadriceps muscle on his final kickoff in the Redskins' season-opening victory over the Chicago Bears on September 11. Officially, he has been listed as questionable.

9/27/2005

Hall has been sidelined since straining his right quadriceps muscle on his final kickoff in the Redskins' season-opening victory over the Chicago Bears on September 11. However, the kicker has reported improvement in the leg, and he hopes to practice with the team on Wednesday. Barring any setbacks over the next several days, Hall is optimistic that he'll be ready for Sunday's meeting with the Seattle Seahawks.

9/16/2005

Redskins officials have officially ruled Hall out of Monday's game against the Cowboys with a strained right quadriceps. Reserve kicker Nick Novak will handle the kicking duties for Washington until Hall can return.

9/13/2005

After further testing, Hall's strained right quadriceps is not as serious as the injury that ended his 2004 campaign, but the kicker likely will not be ready for Monday night's meeting with the Dallas Cowboys, according to Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs. As a result, the team has signed Nick Novak to handle the kicking duties until Hall is able to return to action.

9/12/2005

Hall strained his right quadriceps on his final kickoff in Sunday's victory over the Chicago Bears, and there is a chance he could be sidelined for an extended period. The Redskins' kicker tore the same muscle late last season and finished the 2004 campaign on injured reserve. He will be re-evaluated on Monday to determine the extent of the injury. Hall nailed all three of his field-goal attempts in Sunday's game.

8/29/2005

It appears Hall has won the Washington Redskins' kicking job for the 2005 campaign, as the team released his main competition, Jeff Chandler, on Monday. Limited to eight games by groin and quadriceps injuries last season, Hall nailed eight of his 11 field-goal attempts, with all three of his misses coming from 40 or more yards.
