Kevin Mathis

9/15/2005

An MRI has revealed that Mathis has tears in the anterior cruciate and lateral collateral ligaments in his left knee, as well as damage to his posterior capsule and hamstring. The Falcons' 31-year-old cornerback will be forced to undergo surgery and will miss the rest of the 2005 campaign. He will be placed on injured reserve.

Mathis is scheduled to undergo an MRI after his left knee locked up in practice on Wednesday. The Falcons' cornerback has at least a sprain, according to head coach Jim Mora, and the team is afraid that the injury could be serious. He's already been ruled out of Sunday's meeting with the Seattle Seahawks.
