Bertrand Berry

11/16/2005

Berry officially will miss the remainder of the 2005 campaign after being placed on injured reserve by the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday. Initially, the Cards held off on making the move, as they were optimistic that the Pro Bowl defensive end could return from a torn left pectoral muscle before the end of the season. He has been sidelined since suffering the injury November 6 against Seattle.

Berry will not require surgery to repair his torn left pectoral muscle, so the Arizona Cardinals are holding off on placing him on injured reserve, which would officially end his 2005 campaign. However, the defensive end is expected to be sidelined for at least a month, and there is no guarantee that he will be back this season.

Tests have revealed that Berry has a torn left pectoral muscle, an injury suffered in the first half of Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Although it has yet to be determined whether surgery will be necessary, the defensive end is expected to miss the remainder of the 2005 campaign. In eight games this season, he has 34 tackles, six sacks and a forced fumble.
