Edwards has been released by the Chicago Bears, opening a spot on the roster for Jason McKie, who was activated from the non-football injury list on Tuesday. In eight games this season, including five starts, the veteran fullback did not record a carry, but he hauled in 10 passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

Edwards signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears on Saturday. The fullback, who was released by Jacksonville in March, received a deal believed to be worth approximately $665,000.
