Mike Minter
9/21/2005
Minter has been listed as questionable on the Carolina Panthers' injury report this week, due to the calf muscle he strained in last weekend's victory over the New England Patriots. The veteran safety, who has four tackles in two games this season, did not take part in the team's workout on Wednesday. He will be evaluated on a daily basis to determine his status and availability.

Tests on Minter's left knee have revealed a sprain, but no serious damage was found. The Panthers' safety, who suffered the injury on Thursday, will not require surgery, and the team has listed him as day-to-day. Idrees Bashir will fill in during his absence. In 16 games last season, Minter had 83 tackles, three forced fumbles and two sacks.

Minter is reportedly campaigning to be moved from strong to free safety. The eight-year veteran is aware he could lose playing time at SS to rookie LB/S Thomas Davis.

Minter signed a four-year contract extension, worth a reported $10 million, with the Carolina Panthers on Friday. The veteran cornerback had had one year remaining on his deal, but that has now been extended through the 2009 season. He has missed just two games over the past six seasons.
