Jamie Sharper
12/9/2005
The Seahawks placed Sharper on season-ending injured reserve Friday. The linebacker started the first eight games this season, but has been sidelined with a staph infection in his right knee. The decision to place him on IR was made because the infection does not seem to be clearing up.

Sharper, who had to have his knee drained last week because of significant swelling, currently is in the hospital with a staph infection. The Seahawks expect the linebacker to make a full recovery, but he'll likely be sidelined for up to a month. With Sharper unavailable, D.D. Lewis will shift from the left side to the right, and Leroy Hill will fill the void in the starting lineup.

Sharper had to have his right knee drained on Tuesday after showing up to the Seahawks practice facilities with an infection and significant swelling. According to head coach Mike Holmgren, the linebacker will be sidelined indefinitely, while team doctors determine how to treat the ailment. In eight games this season, Sharper has 38 tackles and one forced fumble.
