Jake Plummer

2/8/2006

The groin strain injury Plummer suffered in the AFC championship game won't prevent him from participating in offseason workouts. The Broncos' quarterback, however, won't play in the Pro Bowl. Tennessee Titans' quarterback Steve McNair is filling his roster spot as a replacement.

Plummer was harassed all afternoon, completing 18 of 30 passes for 223 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the Broncos' 34-17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC championship game Sunday.

Plummer is expected to handle the majority of the snaps with the Broncos' first-team offense in practice this week and be in the starting lineup for Saturday's regular-season finale against the San Diego Chargers. However, since Denver has a playoff spot already secured, the quarterback's playing time likely will be limited as a precautionary measure, trying to avoid injury. Backup Bradlee Van Pelt could see the most extensive action of his NFL career as a result.

Plummer extended his streak of games without a turnover to six, posting his best performance of the season in Sunday's victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. The Broncos' quarterback went 22 of 35 for 309 yards and tied a career high with four touchdown passes. He has not been picked off since Week 2.

10/17/2005

Plummer posted a season-high 134.4 passer rating in Sunday's win over the New England Patriots, going 17 of 24 for 262 yards and two touchdowns. The Broncos' quarterback does not have a turnover since Week 2, and he's thrown just three interceptions in six games on the year.

Plummer tweaked his left knee during training camp on Saturday. The quarterback's injury is not considered serious, and he returned to the practice field later in the day.
