Warrick Dunn
10/25/2005
With T.J. Duckett sidelined with an ankle injury, Dunn was asked to shoulder the bulk of the rushing load for the Atlanta Falcons in Monday night's meeting with the New York Jets. The veteran running back did not disappoint, busting out for 155 yards on 24 carries -- both totals were season highs.

Dunn reached the century mark for the third time this season, finishing Sunday's win over the New Orleans Saints with exactly 100 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. The Falcons' running back also hauled in two passes for 15 yards.

Dunn averaged seven yards per carry and scored his first touchdown of the season and 50th overall of his NFL career in Sunday's victory over the Minnesota Vikings. The Falcons' running back rushed 18 times, picking up 126 yards on the day.

Dunn had a great night on Monday against the Eagles, rushing for 117 yards on 21 carries. Although the running back left briefly to receive intravenous fluids in the locker room, Dunn returned to the Falcons' lineup and finished the game. The pregame ejection of Philadelphia linebacker Jeremiah Trotter opened up the middle of the field for the Falcons' running game and Dunn took full advantage.

Dunn might be limited over the next few days and his availability for Friday's exhibition game against the Tennessee Titans is up in the air, due to some soreness in his ankle. According to Falcons head coach Jim Mora, the injury is minor, and the veteran running back is listed as day-to-day. Dunn, who finished the team's first exhibition game with 10 carries for 48 yards, did not take part in practice on Monday.

Dunn currently leads in the race for the Falcons' starting tailback job this season, a job he's held the last three years. The veteran running back finished the team's first exhibition game with 10 carries for 48 yards. His primary competition, T.J. Duckett, has been limited in training camp so far, due to a nagging hamstring injury.
