Kelly Holcomb

12/28/2005

With J.P. Losman still not fully recovered from a sore right shoulder and bruised thigh, Holcomb is expected to get the starting nod in Sunday's season finale against the New York Jets, according to Bills head coach Mike Mularkey. The veteran quarterback has appeared in nine games this season, going 132 of 193 for 1,325 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions. He also has a rushing TD.

On Tuesday, Bills head coach Mike Mularkey said he is leaning toward giving Holcomb the nod in Saturday's matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. Regular starter J.P. Losman, who missed last weekend's game with a sore right shoulder and left leg, returned to practice on Tuesday, but was still walking with a limp and saw limited action.

Holcomb will get the starting nod in Saturday night's meeting with the Denver Broncos, as he has been taking the majority of the snaps with the Bills' first-team offense the last two days. The veteran is filling in for second-year quarterback J.P. Losman, who has yet to practice this week, due to an injury to his throwing shoulder. Head coach Mike Mularkey officially announced the move following the Bills' practice on Wednesday.

Holcomb will remain in a backup role the rest of the 2005 campaign, as Bills head coach has announced that J.P. Losman will keep the team's starting job going forward. The veteran quarterback stepped into the top job following Losman's early season struggles, but not seen any game action since going down with a concussion against the Kansas City Chiefs two weeks ago.

Holcomb should be medically cleared to play in Sunday's matchup with the San Diego Chargers, but he will not be in the Bills' starting lineup, according to head coach Mike Mularkey. The quarterback has not practiced with the team this week, as he continues to recover from the concussion suffered in last weekend's victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Second-year signal caller J.P. Losman will get the nod in his stead.

According to Bills head coach Mike Mularkey, the team will wait until Friday to make a final decision on a starting quarterback for Sunday's meeting with the San Diego Chargers. After suffering a concussion last weekend, Holcomb did not practice on Wednesday and currently is listed as questionable on the injury report. If he does not recover by Sunday, J.P. Losman will get the nod.

Holcomb was unable to return to the Bills' lineup after suffering a concussion in the second quarter of Sunday's victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. The quarterback, who was replaced by J.P. Losman, will be re-evaluated over the next couple of days before his status and availability are updated. According to head coach Mike Mularkey, the injury was fairly significant.

Bills head coach Mike Mularkey has been hesitant to commit to a starting quarterback for this weekend's meeting with the New York Jets, but it appears Holcomb will get the nod for the second consecutive week. The veteran signal caller, who took over for the struggling J.P. Losman last week, has been taking the majority of the snaps with the Bills' first-team offense at practice over the past couple of days.

According to receiver Eric Moulds, Holcomb will step into Buffalo's starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins, replacing the struggling J.P. Losman. The Bills are hoping the veteran quarterback can supply a spark to their offense, which has produced just two touchdowns in the last 14 quarters. In limited duty this season, Holcomb is 5 of 9 for 27 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.
