Terrell Owens

8/19/2006

Owens will not play for the Cowboys in Monday's preseason game against the New Orleans Saints due to a hamstring injury. "He's gotten some pretty good work in this week, and I just don't want to start over next week," Cowboys coach Bill Parcells said. "Hopefully, he'll get his first real game action next weekend."

8/16/2006

Owens returned to practice for the Cowboys on Wednesday after missing 14 consecutive sessions with a hamstring injury. His status is uncertain for the Cowboys' preseason game against the New Orleans Saints on Monday.

8/10/2006

Owens was on the training bike for an 11th straight practice Thursday. The was a chance after a hard practice Wednesday that the Dallas Cowboys receiver might've rejoined teammates on the field but he opted not to push it. There's only a walkthrough Friday, then a preseason opener Saturday against the Seattle Seahawks which Owens will miss.

8/9/2006

Owens caught passes Wednesday, but did so during a post-practice session with a fourth-string quarterback, not with the rest of the Dallas Cowboys starters. The morning practice was the ninth straight that Owens has missed.

8/7/2006

Owens said on Monday that his hamstring injury will likely keep him out of the Cowboys' preseason opener Saturday. Although an MRI showed no damage, Owens is having his healing-inducing hyperbaric chamber shipped to his training camp hotel room. Two doctors are also expected to help him.

8/6/2006

An MRI exam Saturday showed no damage to Owens' left hamstring but the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver still missed a third straight day of full practice. Owens sat out the morning walk-through and also missed the intrasquad scrimmage later Saturday. "It's sore to the point that I feel like if I get on the field now and try to open up, it's just going to make matters worse," Owens said of the hamstring injury.

8/5/2006

Owens missed a walk-through Saturday morning to have an MRI exam on his sore left hamstring. The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver was to be held out of the afternoon scrimmage. It was the third straight he hasn't caught passes from quarterback Drew Bledsoe.

8/4/2006

Owens missed his second straight Dallas Cowboys practice Friday because of soreness in his left hamstring. The Pro Bowl wide receiver has amassed 10,535 yards on 716 receptions entering his first season of play with the Cowboys.

8/3/2006

Owens did not practice with the Dallas Cowboys Thursday because of a sore left hamstring. The Pro Bowl wide receiver spent most of his time slowly riding an exercise bicycle. He stopped pedaling to do a situp drill and another with a medicine ball. In between, he spent several minutes talking to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. The injury doesn't seem to be serious.

3/19/2006

Owens has reportedly signed a three-year, $25 million deal with the Dallas Cowboys. The 32-year-old wide receiver played just seven games last season before the Philadelphia Eagles deactivated him for conduct detrimental to the team.

3/18/2006

Owens is taking his act to Dallas. The Dallas Morning News has confirmed the Cowboys have agreed in principle to a deal with Owens. After Keyshawn Johnson's release on Tuesday, the Cowboys are ready to bring in another flamboyant receiver. The Eagles released Owens after suspending him for contract detrimental to the team last season.

3/14/2006

The Philadelphia Eagles have released Owens. One day before Owens was due a $5 million roster bonus, the Eagles ended his two-year employment by cutting him on Tuesday. Owens' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, received permission in January to seek a trade. Unable to find a suitor in time, the Eagles released him.

1/10/2006

Agent Drew Rosenhaus has been given permission by the Philadelphia Eagles to seek a trade for Owens, who missed the final nine contests of the 2005 campaign, primarily due to conduct detrimental to the team. The Eagles suspended the troubled receiver for four games before deactivating him for five. He made several comments about the organization and quarterback Donovan McNabb, which eventually led to the penalty.

11/23/2005

An arbitrator has upheld the Philadelphia Eagles' four-game suspension of Terrell Owens, and the team has the right to deactivate him. Owens was seeking reinstatement to the Eagles or a release so he could sign with another team.

11/7/2005

Eagles head coach Andy Reid has announced that Owens will not return to the field this season, as the receiver has been suspended for three more games, then will be deactivated the rest of the 2005 schedule. Owens publicly criticized the organization because he did not get recognized by the club after scoring his 100th career touchdown earlier this year, and he reportedly also got into a fist fight in the locker room last week with former teammate Hugh Douglas.

11/5/2005

Despite practicing with the team on Friday, Owens has now been suspended indefinitely by Eagles management for publicly criticizing the organization. Owens was upset that the Eagles did not recognize his 100th career touchdown catch two weeks ago when the Eagles beat the Chargers in Philadelphia. Despite Owens' apology issued the following day, the team felt that the damage had already been done. Rookie Reggie Brown will start in place of Owens this Sunday.

11/4/2005

Owens practiced again on Friday, and appears to be on track to start this Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins.

11/3/2005

Owens' sprained right ankle has responded to treatment, and the veteran receiver was able to return to practice with the Eagles on Thursday, although his reps were limited as a precautionary measure. After reporting no major problems, Owens has been upgraded from doubtful to questionable on the team's injury list. If he can expand his work on Friday, there is a good chance he'll be ready for Sunday's meeting with the Washington Redskins. He'll be a game-time decision.

11/2/2005

After spraining his right ankle in Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos, Owens was unable to practice with the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday, and his availability for this weekend's matchup with the Washington Redskins currently is up in the air. The veteran receiver indicated that the injury could force him to miss up to two games. Owens had surgery on the same ankle last year and missed an extended period, so obviously, the Eagles are going to be very cautious.

10/31/2005

Owens was held without a catch in the first half of Sunday's meeting with the Denver Broncos and finished the game with just three receptions. However, the Eagles' receiver made the most of the limited production, racking up 154 yards on the day, including a 91-yard touchdown.

10/6/2005

Owens has lingering pain in his lower abdomen and a bruised shoulder, but the ailments did not prevent him from working out with the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday. The receiver, who officially is listed as probable, is expected to be in the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.

10/3/2005

In addition to lingering pain in his lower abdomen, Owens now is nursing a bruised shoulder, an injury suffered in Sunday's victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. The Eagles' receiver was able to remain in the lineup despite the two ailments, and he finished the game with a season-high 11 catches for 171 yards and a touchdown.

10/2/2005

Despite soreness in his lower abdomen, Owens is active and will start for the Eagles this Sunday against the Chiefs.

9/29/2005

Owens still has some lingering soreness in his lower abdomen, but the problem did not prevent him from taking part in the Eagles' workouts on Wednesday. The receiver, who was limited last week as a precautionary measure, officially is listed as probable for Sunday's matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.

9/21/2005

According to Eagles head coach Andy Reid, Owens suffered a minor strain of his lower abdomen in Sunday's victory over the San Francisco 49ers, and the team decided to hold him out of practice on Wednesday as a precaution. The receiver, who has been nursing a nagging groin problem for the past couple of years, plans to be in the starting lineup for this weekend's matchup with the Oakland Raiders.

9/19/2005

Owens hauled in five passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 42-3 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, his former team. With the performance, the Eagles' receiver topped the 10,000-yard plateau for his career, becoming just the 22nd player in NFL history to reach the mark.

9/13/2005

Owens did not let any of the offseason and preseason drama affect his performance in Week 1 against Atlanta. While he did not reach the end zone, he did haul in seven passes for 112 yards.

8/29/2005

Owens was held out of the last few drills during the Eagles' practice on Sunday, due to nagging discomfort in his groin. According to head coach Andy Reid, the receiver slightly aggravated the injury in Friday's preseason game against the Cininnati Bengals, and the team is being very cautious with Owens, as they don't want the problem lingering into the regular season.

8/27/2005

Owens' groin injury certainly did not seem to bother him in Friday night's preseason game against the Bengals, as he caught a 64-yard touchdown pass from Donovan McNabb on the very first play from scrimmage. Owens finished the first half with five receptions for 131 yards and the one touchdown.

8/25/2005

Owens has reported no major problems with his nagging groin injury this week, and he is expected to see some time in Friday's exhibition meeting with the Cincinnati Bengals, according to Eagles head coach Andy Reid. The veteran receiver will be making his 2005 debut after missing time with the injury and a team-imposed week-long suspension/dismissal.

8/19/2005

Owens' groin improved during his recent week-long suspension/dismissal, but according to head coach Andy Reid, the problem continues to linger. The receiver will not play in Saturday's exhibition game against the Baltimore Ravens, as the Eagles do not want to risk Owens aggravating the injury in a meaningless contest. The move is considered precautionary at this point.

8/17/2005

Owens was back on the practice field with the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday after serving a short suspension/dismissal. Following a heated argument with head coach Andy Reid on August 10, the receiver was sent home by the team and told not to return for a week -- reportedly, the disagreement was about player obligations during training camp. During his absence, Owens missed several practices and a preseason meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday.

8/10/2005

Owens is no longer in camp with the Philadelphia Eagles, reportedly being asked to leave after a verbal argument with head coach Andy Reid on Wednesday. The receiver, who has not practiced with the team five of last six days because of a nagging groin injury, is expected to return to his home in New Jersey.

8/8/2005

Owens was able to practice with the Eagles both in the morning and afternoon sessions on Sunday after missing the previous two days with soreness in his left groin. However, the receiver aggravated the injury at some point during the workouts and was absent from the field on Monday. He has been listed as day-to-day, and the team likely won't push him to return too quickly, especially due to his history of problems with the same ailment.

8/5/2005

Owens currently is listed as day-to-day, due to soreness in his groin. The ailment kept the Eagles' receiver from practicing with the team both Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.

8/2/2005

Owens reported to Eagles training camp on Monday in time to take part in the first team meeting on this summer's schedule. The wide receiver did not address reporters on his way to his dorm room, though his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, was present to address the media. Owens wants to renegotiate the seven-year, $49 million deal that he signed last summer. There had been much speculation as to whether the disgruntled wideout would report to camp on time.

7/21/2005

The chances of Owens reporting to Eagles training camp on time are about 50-50, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. The receiver reportedly might choose to hold out, as he in search of a new contract despite inking a seven-year, nearly $49 million deal prior to the start of the 2004 campaign. Eagles players are scheduled to report on August 1.

7/2/2005

The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly declined permission for Owens to play on the NBA Sacramento Kings' summer league team.In addition, the Eagles have denied rumors that the team is in discussions to trade the disgruntled receiver to Oakland in exchange for Jerry Porter.

5/11/2005

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie told the Philadelphia Inquirer that the team has no intentions to renegotiate Owens' current seven-year, $49 million contract. The All-Pro wide receiver, who is just one year into the deal, fired his longtime agent David Joseph in April and replaced him with Drew Rosenhaus. Owens skipped the team's mandatory minicamp at the end of April, but has not said if he plans to hold out during training camp if no new agreement is reached.

4/29/2005

Owens will not take part in the Philadelphia Eagles' mini-camp this weekend, reportedly because he wants a new contract, and to date, the team has refused the request. The veteran receiver inked a seven-year deal worth nearly $49 million last spring, but feels he is worth more. In 13 regular-season games last year, Owens had 77 receptions for 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns before severely spraining his right ankle and suffering a broken fibula just below his knee.
