Roman Oben
12/21/2005
Sidelined since spraining his foot in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 30, Oben has been ruled out for the rest of the season. The Chargers' starting left tackle was placed on injured reserve late Tuesday, officially ending his 2005 campaign. He will be replaced on the active roster by receiver Drew Haddad.

Despite some optimism earlier this week, Oben has been ruled out of Sunday's matchup with the Oakland Raiders after failing to practice with the San Diego Chargers on Friday. The left tackle continues to be bothered by soreness in his right foot, which he sprained in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs on October 30 and has been sidelined since.

For the first time in a month, Oben practiced with the San Diego Chargers on Wednesday and reported no major problems. The left tackle has been sidelined since spraining his foot in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs on October 30. He'll likely be a game-time decision for Sunday's meeting with the Oakland Raiders.

Oben has signed an extension with the San Diego Chargers that will keep him under contract through the 2008 campaign. The offensive lineman has started 134 of the 141 games in which he has appeared, including postseason contests. He was acquired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in June 2004.
