Keyshawn Johnson

3/24/2006

Johnson lands in Carolina. The Panthers signed him to a four-year deal worth $14 million, including a $5 million bonus. Johnson, who spurned the Giants, should form a high-scoring air attack with Steve Smith.

Johnson needs another new home after his surprising release from the Cowboys. He had sought a contract extension, but the Cowboys released him days before a roster bonus was due. Johnson will play for his fourth different team as he enters his 11th NFL season.

Johnson will be hobbled for the next few weeks after undergoing minor surgery to repair some damage in his right knee. The receiver, who reportedly had a similar procedure last offseason, is expected to be fully recovered by the time the Cowboys begin their offseason conditioning program in March.

Johnson was Drew Bledsoe's favorite target in Sunday's win over the New York Giants, finishing the contest with eight receptions for 120 yards. The veteran receiver also surpassed 700 catches for his NFL career, becoming the 22nd player in league history to reach the plateau.

Johnson was on the receiving end of five Drew Bledsoe passes in Sunday's 28-24 victory over the San Diego Chargers, including two that resulted in touchdowns. The veteran wideout, who is beginning his 10th NFL season, finished the day with 65 yards receiving.
