Curtis Martin

7/27/2006

Martin was placed on the physically unable to perform list Thursday because of a lingering knee injury. The Jets' running back had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee last December, ending his season, and was limited during minicamp last month.

12/13/2005

As was reported over the weekend, Martin will undergo surgery on his troublesome right knee in the near future, which will bring an end to his 2005 campaign. The veteran running back, who has been battling the problem all season, will be placed on injured reserve, but he has vowed to return to the Jets' backfield in 2006. Martin finishes the year with 735 rushing yards, failing to become the first NFL player with 1,000 rushing yards in each of his first 11 seasons.

12/11/2005

Martin will undergo season-ending surgery on his right knee after missing Sunday's game against Oakland. The Jets' running back, who initially injured the knee in Week 2, missed his first game since 1998.

12/10/2005

The New York Daily News reported if Martin doesn't play in Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders because of a nagging knee injury, he might end his season early to undergo surgery. There's a possibility the Jets' running back has cartilage damage.

12/9/2005

Martin has been downgraded to questionable for Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders because of the sore knee that has troubled him for most of this season. The running back will likely be a gametime decision.

12/8/2005

Martin's nagging knee injury continues to be a problem, and he was held out of practice on Wednesday as a precautionary measure. The Jets' veteran running back, who likely will need offseason surgery to repair the damage in the knee, is expected to be in the lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Oakland Raiders.

11/28/2005

Coming off a dismal seven-yard outing the previous week, Martin had 91 yards on 24 rushes in Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints. With the performance, the Jets' tailback reached a pair of milestones. He became just the fourth player in NFL history to rush for more than 14,000 yards, and also topped 3,500 carries, joining Walter Payton and Emmitt Smith as the only players to accomplish that feat.

11/21/2005

Martin turned in his worst outing of the 2005 campaign, picking up just seven yards on four carries in Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos. After falling behind early, the Jets rushed the ball just seven times in the game, primarily the reason for Martin's limited production.

11/17/2005

As has been the case the past several weeks, Martin is listed as probable on the Jets' injury report. The veteran running back, who has been battling a sore knee, did not practice with the team on Wednesday as a precautionary measure, but he fully intends to be ready for Sunday's matchup with the Denver Broncos.

11/12/2005

The team revealed Friday that Martin suffered what is believed to be a partially torn ligament in his knee way back in Week Two, an injury that should have sidelined the running back for at least two weeks. However Martin, who hasn't missed a game since 1998, had a strong practice Friday, and again is expected to play when the Jets take on Carolina on Sunday.

11/11/2005

Due to some concern with the status of Martin's troublesome knee, the New York Jets have added him to this week's injury report. The running back, who's been battling soreness in the joint for the majority of the season, currently is listed as probable. He was able to work out with the team on Thursday and plans to be in the lineup against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

11/7/2005

With a one-yard score in the second quarter of Sunday's loss to the San Diego Chargers, Martin notched the 100th touchdown of his NFL career, becoming just the 16th player in league history to reach the plateau. The Jets' veteran running back finished the game with 72 yards on 21 carries.

11/2/2005

Martin had a chance to rest his sprained right knee during the Jets' bye last week, but he admitted that the time off still wasn't enough to get the leg back to full strength. As a precautionary measure, the veteran running back could miss some practice time over the coming weeks, but he plans to be in the starting lineup on game days.

10/20/2005

Martin, who is coming off his best game of the season, has not practiced with the New York Jets this week, as the team is allowing him to rest his sore knee. However, the veteran running back is listed as probable on the injury report and fully expects to be ready for a Monday night matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.

10/17/2005

After averaging just 2.7 yards per carry through his first five games of the 2005 campaign, Martin had a breakout performance against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, picking up 148 yards on 18 rushes -- an 8.2-yard average. The Jets' veteran running back also notched his third touchdown in his last two games.

10/10/2005

Martin posted just 2.6 yards per carry in Sunday's victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but found the end zone twice, notching his first touchdowns of the 2005 campaign. The Jets' running back had been listed as probable going into the game, nursing a sore knee, which he strained earlier this season and aggravated last week. His 23 rushes on Sunday was his second-highest total of the season.

10/9/2005

As anticipated, Martin will be in the starting lineup when the Jets' take the field against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The veteran running back, who strained his knee earlier this season before getting kicked in the same leg last weekend, was listed as probable on the Jets' injury report this week and was limited in practice as a precautionary measure.

10/7/2005

To rest his sore knee, Martin did not practice with the Jets Wednesday or Thursday, but he's currently listed as probable on the team's injury report. The veteran running back, who strained his knee earlier this season before getting kicked in the same leg last weekend, said he will be in the lineup when the Jets take the field against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

10/3/2005

Martin temporarily was forced to leave Sunday's meeting with the Baltimore Ravens after getting kicked in the leg by another player. The running back was able to return to the Jets' lineup and finish the game. His day was unproductive overall, as he finished with 30 yards on 13 carries to go along with three catches for 15 yards.

9/22/2005

Martin reported no problems with his knee after taking part in a full workout with the New York Jets on Thursday, and he has been upgraded from questionable to probable for Sunday's battle with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The veteran running back suffered a minor strain of the knee in the first quarter of last weekend's win over the Dolphins, but he was able to remain in the lineup and pick up 72 yards on 31 carries.

9/20/2005

An MRI on Martin's ailing right knee showed no structural damage, and the Jets' running back has been diagnosed with only a minor strain. Although he'll likely miss some practice time this week, Martin should be ready for Sunday's matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The injury occurred in the first quarter of last weekend's win over the Dolphins, but Martin was able to remain in the lineup and pick up 72 yards on 31 carries.

9/19/2005

Martin is nursing a strained right knee, an injury suffered in Sunday's victory over the Miami Dolphins. The Jets' veteran running back is scheduled to undergo a precautionary MRI on Monday to rule out any serious damage. His status will be updated following review of the test results. For now, he has been listed as day-to-day.

8/30/2005

The New York Jets know what Martin brings to the table, so the running back likely will be held out of Thursday's preseason finale against the Philadelphia Eagles, giving the club a chance to look at some other players. The 32-year-old Martin is coming off his best NFL campaign, when he rushed for a career-high 1,697 yards.
