Kordell Stewart
11/9/2005
Stewart has been released by the Baltimore Ravens, as his services were no longer needed with regular starter Kyle Boller slated to return to action this weekend. The veteran quarterback had been serving as the backup to Anthony Wright, who was promoted to the starting role during Boller's absence. Stewart rushed for 30 yards on three carries in one game, but failed to attempt a pass.

With starter Kyle Boller sidelined indefinitely with a hyperextended big toe, the Baltimore Ravens added some depth and experience at quarterback on Wednesday, signing Stewart. The veteran signal caller served as Boller's top backup last season, but appeared in just two games and did not attempt a pass. Receiver Patrick Johnson was waived to open a spot on the roster.
