Gus Frerotte

3/18/2006

The Rams signed Frerotte to a three-year contract. Frerotte completed 257 of 494 passes for 2,996 yards and 18 touchdowns in 16 games with the Dolphins last season. Frerotte threw 13 interceptions.

12/23/2005

The Miami Herald reports Frerotte expects to be in the lineup Saturday when Miami hosts the Titans in its last home game of the season. The Dolphins' quarterback, who sprained his right index finger, has been practicing all week. Frerotte is 221 of 429 for 2,606 yards, 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions through 14 games this season.

12/21/2005

Frerotte's sprained right index finger has improved significantly over the past couple of days, and the quarterback was able to return to practice with the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday. Barring any setbacks, it appears that he will be ready for Saturday's meeting with the Tennessee Titans.

12/20/2005

Frerotte aggravated the sprained index finger on his throwing hand while trying to make a tackle late in the first half of Sunday's win over the New York Jets. The Dolphins' veteran quarterback was unable to return in the third quarter, giving way to backup Sage Rosenfels. The finger was still quite swollen on Monday, putting his availability for Saturday's meeting with the Tennessee Titans up in the air.

12/7/2005

As anticipated, Frerotte was able to practice with the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday, and he declared himself ready for Sunday's matchup with the San Diego Chargers. The veteran quarterback was forced to leave last weekend's win over the Buffalo Bills with a mild concussion, but showed up to the team's facilities the next day feeling fine.

12/5/2005

According to Dolphins head coach Nick Saban, Frerotte was feeling fine when he reported to the team's facilities on Monday morning, a day after leaving a win over the Buffalo Bills with a mild concussion. The veteran quarterback is expected to practice with the team this week and get the starting nod in next Sunday's matchup with the San Diego Chargers.

11/21/2005

Frerotte was not expected to play in Sunday's matchup with the Cleveland Browns, but after fill-in starter Sage Rosenfels went 5 of 10 for 14 yards, two interceptions and no touchdowns, head coach Nick Saban decided to turn to the veteran quarterback late in the third quarter. He obviously was still bothered by soreness and swelling in his right index finger, completing just four of his 18 pass attempts for 53 yards.

11/20/2005

Frerotte will serve as emergency quarterback, with Sage Rosenfels getting the starting assignment for today's game against the Cleveland Browns.

11/18/2005

Frerotte's swollen right index finger has shown improvement over the past couple of days, and the quarterback was able to make a few throws on the side during Thursday's practice, but he did not take part in any team drills. According to Dolphins head coach Nick Saban, a final decision on a starter for Sunday's meeting with the Cleveland Browns has yet to be made, but he indicated Frerotte could get the nod, even if he doesn't see any action at practice this week.

11/16/2005

At this point, it appears Frerotte's swollen right index finger will force him to miss Sunday's matchup with the Cleveland Browns, but the Dolphins plan to give him a few more days to recover before making a final decision. The quarterback, who suffered the injury in last weekend's loss to the New England Patriots, will be listed as questionable on this week's injury report. Sage Rosenfels will get the starting nod if Frerotte is unable to go.

11/14/2005

After failing to top 200 yards passing in five of his previous eight games this year, Frerotte broke through with a season-best 360-yard performance in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the New England Patriots, despite playing the majority of the contest with a sore index finger on his passing hand. The Dolphins' quarterback finished the game 25 of 47 with two touchdowns and one interception. He avoiding being sacked for the second consecutive contest.

11/8/2005

Despite his recent struggles, Frerotte is not in danger of losing his starting job, according to Dolphins head coach Nick Saban. The veteran quarterback has failed to pass for more than 170 yards in any of his last three games and has three interceptions and only one touchdown over that span.

9/13/2005

After banging his right (throwing) hand on a helmet early in Sunday's victory over the Denver Broncos, Frerotte underwent a precautionary X-rays on Monday, and all test results came back negative. The Dolphins' starting quarterback has been diagnosed with a bruised index finger, and he plans to be ready for the team's Week 2 meeting with the New York Jets.

9/12/2005

Despite an unimpressive preseason, Frerotte was under center for the Dolphins as they took the field in Sunday's season opener against the Denver Broncos. The veteran quarterback looked solid, completing 24 of his 36 pass attempts for 275 yards and two touchdowns. He tossed one interception and avoided being sacked in the 34-10 victory.

9/3/2005

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Saturday that Dolphins head coach Nick Saban has named Frerotte as the starting quarterback for the season opener against the Denver Broncos.

8/15/2005

Although nothing is official at this point, it appears Frerotte has the lead in the competition for the Dolphins' starting quarterback job this season. The veteran signal caller hasn't posted mind-blowing stat lines in the team's first two exhibition contests, but he's done enough to outplay A.J. Feeley, who started the majority of the 2004 campaign.
