Charlie Garner
8/30/2005
Despite playing successfully for Jon Gruden in the past, Garner was cut on Tuesday by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The running back missed the majority of the team's offseason workouts, as well as most of training camp, due to the knee injury that limited him to just three games in 2004. He finished last season with 111 yards on 30 carries, along with nine receptions for 62 yards.

Tampa Bay placed Garner on the active-physically unable to perform list on Friday. The veteran running back contunes to recover from the torn patella tendon that cost him all but three games of the 2004 season.

Garner continues to recover from a torn patella tendon in his right knee, an injury suffered in a game against the Oakland Raiders last September. The Buccaneers' veteran running back indicated that he was at about 80 percent last month, but he has been progressing slowly since then. There is a good chance that he won't be ready for the start of training camp.
