Larry Allen
3/21/2006
The Cowboys released Allen on Tuesday, meaning the 12-year veteran is likely finished with Dallas. The guard, one of the most dominant in NFL history, was due a $2 million roster bonus on April 1, but the Cowboys chose to cut him instead.

After missing the first four practices of Cowboys training camp, Allen was back in pads with the rest of the first team on Monday. The veteran guard had failed the club's conditioning drill last Friday and was held out of team workouts while he trained individually with a strength coach. The nine-time Pro Bowler is entering his 12th NFL campaign.

After failing his team conditioning test on Friday, Allen failed a physical on Saturday. The team continues to hope that Allen will get in playing shape soon, however no word has been issued to specifically point out what the problem is.

After failing a team conditioning test on Friday, Allen did not practice on Saturday and could be placed on the active-physically unable to perform (PUP) list by the Cowboys. Ironically, Allen had been praised by the Dallas coaching staff for his offseason work.
