Miller has become an unrestricted free agent after reaching an injury settlement with the New York Giants. The quarterback had signed a one-year deal for the veteran minimum, but he recently underwent hip surgery, putting his availability for the start of the 2005 season in question. He is expected to need at least three months of recovery time.

Miller will be sidelined for at least three months after recently undergoing hip surgery, putting his availability for the start of the 2005 regular season in question. The veteran quarterback, who almost certainly will miss all of training camp, signed a one-year contract with the New York Giants in March for the veteran minimum. He spent the 2004 campaign with the New England Patriots, but failed to appear in a game.
