Mike Barrow

12/20/2005

Barrow, who just signed with the Cowboys a few weeks ago, will be placed on injured reserve by the club in the next couple of days. The linebacker will be forced to undergo surgery after tearing a quadriceps muscle in Sunday's loss to the Washington Redskins. He will miss the rest of the season.

Barrow has signed with the Dallas Cowboys, filling the roster spot of fellow linebacker Dat Nguyen, who will miss the rest of the season with nagging knee and neck injuries. Barrow posted a career-high 150 tackles with the New York Giants in 2003, but missed the 2004 campaign with a knee problem and eventually was released by the Washington Redskins last summer.

Barrow was waived by the Washington Redskins on Saturday. The linebacker missed all of last season with acute tendinitis in his knee. Barrow had signed a six-year, $11.6 million contract with Washington last summer, but never played a down with the club.

Barrow reportedly has been granted permission by the Washington Redskins to seek a trade prior to the start of the 2005 campaign. The linebacker signed a six-year, $11.6 million contract last summer, but failed to take the field with the Redskins in 2004, due to acute tendinitis in his knee.
