Trent Green

1/27/2006

Green was named to the AFC's Pro Bowl roster Friday, replacing injured New England quarterback Tom Brady. The Chiefs' signal-caller will make his second Pro Bowl appearance. He was chosen for the first time following the 2003 season.

Green topped the 300-yard mark for the third time this season and second time in his last three games, going 20 of 32 for 340 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's disappointing loss to the Dallas Cowboys. After throwing three picks in a Week 10 loss to the Bills, the Chiefs' quarterback has found the end zone seven times and tossed just three INTs in his last four contests.

After returning to practice with the Chiefs on Friday, Green will be in the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Oakland Raiders, head coach Dick Vermeil confirmed. The quarterback has been in St. Louis this week after the death of his father, causing him to miss the team's first two practices.

Despite the death of his father just three days earlier, Green was under center when the Chiefs took the field against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. The veteran quarterback posted a season-high 111.3 passer rating, finishing the game 31 of 43 for 347 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He was sacked four times and lost a fumble.

Green was back at practice with the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday and he was able to take part in nearly all of his normal drills, according to head coach Dick Vermeil. The veteran quarterback, who underwent surgery last week to repair an artery problem in his leg that was causing foot soreness and numbness, said he will be in the starting lineup for Sunday's meeting with the New York Jets.

Battling numbness in his left foot recently, Green underwent a minor surgical procedure on Tuesday to open up an artery in his leg and correct a circulation problem. The Chiefs' starting quarterback will not play in Friday's preseason finale against the St. Louis Rams, but he'll be ready for Week 1 of the regular season, according to head coach Dick Vermeil.

All tests on Green's troublesome leg were normal. The Chiefs' quarterback was battling some numbness in his calf and foot during practice last week, before aggravating the problem when his toe was stepped on early in Saturday's exhibition game. According to head coach Dick Vermeil, Green should not miss any time because of the minor ailment.

Battling some numbness in his calf and foot during practice last week, Green aggravated the problem when his toe was stepped on early in Saturday's contest. The Chiefs' quarterback was scheduled to see more playing time, but the team decided to pull him out in the second quarter as a precautionary measure. According to head coach Dick Vermeil, the injury is not considered serious, and Green is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.
