Jimmy Smith
5/11/2006
Smith announced his retirement on Thursday. The last original member of the Jaguars ends his 12-year NFL career, which started in 1992 as a second round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys. He joined the expansion Jaguars in 1995 and finishes his career as one of the top wide receivers in NFL history with 862 catches (seventh all-time), 12,187 yards (11th) and 67 touchdowns (31st). He helped the team to two appearances in the Conference Championship games in 1997 and 2000.
12/12/2005
Smith topped the century mark for the third time this season and first since Week 4 in Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The Jaguars' receiver, who finished with eight catches for 102 yards and a touchdown, also became the 13th player in NFL history to surpass 12,000 yards receiving in his career.

As was the case last week, Smith likely will be limited in practice over the next couple of days, as the Jaguars do not want his sore hamstring to get any worse. The veteran receiver missed some time late in Sunday's win over the Tennessee Titans after the leg tightened up, but still finished with five catches for 89 yards.

Smith is active for Jacksonville's game against the Tennessee Titans, and the wide receiver is expected to start.

Smith was back on the field with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday, as he had hoped, and he plans to be ready for Sunday's meeting with the Tennessee Titans. The veteran receiver did not take part in the team's workout on Wednesday to rest a sore hamstring. Officially, he remains listed as questionable on the Jags' injury report.

As a precautionary measure, Smith was held out of practice on Wednesday to rest a sore hamstring. The veteran receiver, who officially is listed as questionable on the Jaguars' injury report, is expected to be back on the field Thursday or Friday.
10/3/2005
Smith was the lone bright spot for the Jacksonville Jaguars in Sunday's 20-7 loss to the Denver Broncos. The veteran receiver recorded his second 100-yard performance of the 2005 campaign, finishing with five catches for 109 yards and a touchdown.
9/12/2005
With Sunday's performance against the Seattle Seahawks, Smith made up for the dropped balls he had during Jacksonville's preseason slate. The 36-year-old receiver led the Jaguars to a 26-14 victory, finishing with a team-high seven catches for 130 yards and two touchdowns.
