Keenan McCardell

12/5/2005

McCardell caught his 800th career pass in Sunday night's victory over Oakland, making him the 13th player in NFL history to reach that milestone. The Chargers' receiver had four receptions for 60 yards in the game.

Although McCardell finished Sunday night's victory over the New York Giants with just four catches, two of the grabs resulted in touchdowns. The Chargers' veteran receiver logged 80 yards on the evening. For the season, he has 17 receptions for 257 yards and four TDs.

McCardell hauled in a team-high nine passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, but it wasn't quite enough, as the Chargers lost the game, 28-24. The 35-year-old receiver was acquired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers midway through last season, and he finished the year with 31 catches for 393 yards and one touchdown.

As a precautionary measure, McCardell might be limited over the next couple of days, due to tightness in his hamstring. However, the injury, which prevented him from practicing on Monday, is considered very minor, and the receiver will be back sooner rather than later, according to Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer.
