Brett Favre
5/9/2006
Favre has committed to playing for the Green Bay Packers in 2006, and it's possible the commitment may go beyond the upcoming season. The quarterback is backing off earlier comments that the 2006 season would be last. "I know I said that," Favre said Saturday, in his first public comments since telling the Packers he would return for another year. "But I hope you guys will respect me. I'm going to play this year, give it my best and not talk about it."

Favre still has not decided if he will return to the Packers next season. Favre held a press conference Saturday morning, but insisted that he had still not made up his mind.

Favre has not made a decision on whether he'll play next season, but said in an interview on ESPN on Sunday that he would lean toward retirement if he had to decide now. "If I had to pick right now and make a decision, I would say I'm not coming back," the Packers' quarterback said. Favre threw a career-high 29 interceptions this season and had a 70.9 passer rating, the lowest of his career.

With the game well out of reach, Favre was pulled from the Packers' lineup late in the third quarter of Monday night's 48-3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in favor of backup Aaron Rodgers. The veteran quarterback struggled prior to his departure, going 14 of 29 for 144 yards, two interceptions and no touchdowns. His 34.3 passer rating was his worst of the season.

Favre finished Sunday's overtime win over the Detroit Lions with just 170 yards passing, but it was enough for him to top 3,000 for the year. The Packers' veteran quarterback has now reached the plateau 14 times in his career, breaking the NFL record of 13, which he formerly shared with Dolphins great Dan Marino.
12/5/2005
Favre is expected to be limited in practice this week after taking a beating in Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bears. The Packers' veteran quarterback is nursing a bruised right forearm, cut right hand and general overall soreness, but he plans to be ready for next weekend's matchup with the Detroit Lions, according to head coach Mike Sherman.
11/10/2005
With just one win in eight games this season, Favre was feeling a bit lethargic on Wednesday, and he was given the day off by head coach Mike Sherman. The veteran quarterback plans to return to the field on Thursday and will be under center when the Packers take the field against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
10/31/2005
Although he passed for 290 yards and a touchdown, Favre had one of the worst outings in his 15 NFL seasons, as he finished Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals with a career-high five interceptions. Going into Sunday's matchup, the Packers' veteran quarterback had tossed nine touchdowns and thrown just one pick in his previous three contests combined.
10/10/2005
Favre posted a season-best 130.9 passer rating in Sunday's 52-3 victory over the New Orleans Saints, going 19 of 27 for 215 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. With the game well in hand, the Packers replaced Favre in the lineup with rookie Aaron Rodgers to begin the fourth quarter. Green Bay has a bye in Week 6.
10/4/2005
Favre did all he could to get the Packers back into Monday night's game against the Carolina Panthers, but it wasn't quite enough, as Green Bay went to 0-4 following a 32-29 loss. The veteran quarterback finished the contest 28 of 47 for 303 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.
9/19/2005
Favre tried to lead the Packers to a comeback victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, but it wasn't enough as Green Bay lost the game 26-24. Despite being without the services of top receiver Javon Walker, who is out for the season, the veteran quarterback completed 32 of his 44 pass attempts for 342 yards and three touchdowns. He was picked off twice and sacked once.

Favre returned to practice on Wednesday as planned, but his accuracy was off for most of the workout, primarily because he was having trouble pushing off his slightly sprained right ankle. The Packers' veteran quarterback, who suffered the minor injury in last Thursday's preseason finale against the Tennessee Titans, admitted that the ankle is not 100 percent, but he expects to be ready for Sunday's meeting with the Detroit Lions.
9/6/2005
As a precautionary measure, Favre was held out of practice on Monday to rest his slightly sprained left ankle. The Packers' veteran quarterback, who suffered the minor injury in last Thursday's preseason finale against the Tennessee Titans, plans to return to the field on Wednesday in preparation for this weekend's regular-season opener against the Detroit Lions. The Pack is off on Tuesday.
9/2/2005
Favre slightly twisted his ankle early in Thursday's preseason finale against the Tennessee Titans, but after a brief visit to the sidelines, he was able to return to the game. As a precautionary measure, the Packers might choose to limit his work at practice over the next couple of days, but expect the veteran quarterback to be under center when the team takes the field in Week 1 of the regular season.
8/12/2005
Favre looked like he was ready for the start of the regular season in Thursday's exhibition game against the San Diego Chargers, going 9 of 10 for 91 yards and a touchdown in limited action. The Packers' quarterback, who turns 36 in October, will go into the 2005 campaign with a 225 consecutive start streak intact. He finished last season with 346 completions in 540 attempts, good for 4,088 yards and 30 touchdowns.
6/6/2005
At his charity softball game on Sunday, Favre indicated that he'll likely play at least a couple more years in the NFL. The Packers' quarterback reportedly had been contemplating retirement, due to family issues, including his wife coming down with cancer. He will be entering his 15 season in the league.
