Gutierrez was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday when fellow outfielder Casey Blake was activated from the 15-day disabled list.

Gutierrez was recalled by the Cleveland Indians on Friday to take the place of injured outfielder Casey Blake. Gutierrez was 0-for-1 with two runs scored in seven games last season as a pinch runner and a defensive replacement.

The Cleveland Indians recalled Gutierrez from Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday. The outfield prospect has batted .260 with 11 home runs and 49 RBI in 114 games between Double-A Akron and Buffalo this season. To make room for Gutierrez, who will be making his major league debut, the Indians optioned lefthander Brian Tallet to Buffalo.
