McBride was activated from the disabled list by the Braves on Sunday. The 23-year-old left-handed reliever has been sidelined since spring training after straining his left forearm. He began an injury rehab assignment on April 10 and pitched a total of seven games at Triple-A Richmond and Double-A Mississippi. To open a roster spot with the big league club, Atlanta optioned infielder Tony Pena to Richmond.

On Sunday, the Atlanta Braves activated lefthander Mike Hampton from the disabled list and optioned McBride to Triple-A Richmond. The 22-year-old lefthander worked seven scoreless outings and had a save in nine relief appearances, but getting roughed up once produced a 6.00 ERA in six innings.

The Atlanta Braves have recalled McBride from Triple-A Richmond, filling the roster spot of veteran righthander Kevin Gryboski, who was traded to the Texas Rangers late on Thursday. McBride, a 22-year-old lefthander, posted a 4.17 ERA in 22 appearances with Richmond since being promoted on May 11.
