Opening space on the 25-man roster for first baseman Phil Nevin, the San Diego Padres have optioned Johnson to Triple-A Portland. The outfielder made his major league debut after being recalled late last month, but has seen limited playing time during his stint with the Padres. In seven games, he went 2-for-14 with two doubles, three RBI and four strikeouts.
