Paul McAnulty

McAnulty has been optioned to Double-A Mobile by the San Diego Padres, opening a spot on the roster for veteran reliever Paul Quantrill, who was acquired from the New York Yankees on Saturday. The first baseman/outfielder made his major league debut last month and went 2-for-9 in 10 games during his short stint with the Padres.

Filling the roster spot of injured catcher Ramon Hernandez, the San Diego Padres have recalled McAnulty from Double-A Mobile. The outfielder/first baseman has appeared in 67 games with the minor league club this season, batting .301 with 10 home runs and 38 RBI.
