Bayliss was recalled by Pittsburgh from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday. The 25-year-old right-hander was 3-1 with a 1.77 ERA in 27 games for the Indians.

The Kansas City Royals on Tuesday recalled outfielder Matt Diaz and optioned Bayliss to Double-A Wichita. The 25-year-old righthander has posted a 4.63 ERA in 11 relief appearances during two stints with the Royals.

The Kansas City Royals recalled Bayliss from Double-A Wichita on Saturday. The pitcher, who threw 3.1 scoreless innings in four appearances during an earlier stint with the Royals this season, replaces the demoted Leo Nunez in the bullpen.

Bayliss has been optioned to the minor leagues by the Kansas City Royals, creating a space on the roster for lefthander Jeremy Affeldt. The 24-year-old righthander appeared in just four games during his short stint with the Royals, allowing one run and striking out two batters in 3.1 scoreless innings of work.

Bayliss made his major league debut by tossing a scoreless inning and striking out a batter in Tuesday's loss to the Chicago White Sox. The 24-year-old righthander had his contract purchased from Double-A Wichita by the Kansas City Royals earlier in the day. He posted a 1-2 record and notched six saves with the minor league club this season.
