After nearly a month-long stay with the Diamondbacks, Medders was optioned to Triple-A Tucson on Tuesday. The 25-year-old righthander didn't allow a run in five July relief appearances for Arizona, working six scoreless frames while giving up just four hits and a walk and fanning six. He has been promoted to Arizona twice, and for the season, he's 1-0 with a 1.74 ERA and 0.77 WHIP in 10.1 big league innings.

Medders will begin his second stint with the Arizona Diamondbacks after being recalled from Triple-A Tucson on Thursday. The righthander, who replaces the injured Shawn Estes on the roster, posted a 3.38 ERA in six relief appearances with the major league club last month.

The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled Medders from Triple-A Tucson on Saturday. The 25-year-old reliever has never appeared in a major league game. Medders underwent shoulder surgery in June 2004, but has recovered nicely, going 2-1 with a 1.80 ERA and seven saves with Tucson so far this year.
